There are shrines that are tied to quests in the outside world — these will typically require you to finish a puzzle before you enter the shrine itself. The Trial of Thunder shrine quest is just that. You have to solve a puzzle first, and then you'll be granted access to the shrine.

Updated April 5, 2023: Shrine Quests are one of the best parts of Breath of the Wild — it's like you're rewarded for all that exploring off the beaten path that you're doing. Trial of Thunder is one of the more challenging Shrine Quests, so we've updated this guide to help you complete it with ease.

Where To Find The Trial Of Thunder Shrine Quest

The Trial of Thunder shrine quest is located in the Ridgeland region of the map, just west of Central Hy💫rule and south of the Hebra region.

If you teleport to the Ridgeland Tower and glide west, you will glide over the area where you can find the puzzle you'll have to solve and its name will show up on your screen — the Thundra Plateau.

As soon as you 🅘land on it, you will get a message on your screen presenting you with the trial.

There are four columns on the Thunder Plateau and each one has a color painted on it. In front of each column, there's a hole where you can place a small Orb.

Purple Orb

The purple Orb is the easiest one to complete. It's in front of the column that has a purple circle marked on it. Simply pick it up and place it in the hole.

Green Orb

The green Orb is nearly just as easy to get your hands on. It is right on top of the column that corresponds to its exact color.

You can either climb the column and grab the Orb to bring it down, or you can simply hit it with a couple of arrows 🌸from down below to make it roll down to the ground.

Red Orb

The red Orb is on top of a medium-sized statue that, even in the rain, you can easily climb without having to consume any stamina-boosting elixirs or meals.

To get the Orb onto the plateau, use stasis on it to freeze it in time and then hit it with the heaviest weapons you have until the arrow turns red.

Make sure that the arrow is pointing in the direction of the plateau so you don't have to repeat this process.

Orange Orb

The orange Orb is on top of a statue just like the red Orb, but this statue is taller and, since it's always raining in this region, it can be difficult to reach.

If you've already unlocked Revali's Gale you can simply use that power to get on top of 🐻it.

You have two options: you can climb it or get to it from a higher location by simply gliding down. If you decide to climb it, it's possible to do it without stamina-boosting elixirs or meals depending on how much stamina you have, but it's difficult to do.

Your best option is to cook up something to increase your stamina and then consume it as you climb.

Next to the statue, there's a hill. Bring the Orb there and use stasis again to send it onto the plateau.

As soon as you place each Orb into its respective hole, the Toh Yahsa Shrine will appear from u💟nderground and the Trial of Thunder quest is complete.
