168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Last of Us has been divisive even since it first hit our thumbs in 2013, and that trend continued through the sequel, various remasters, and TV adaptation. Now, it seems, it even extends to the award ceremonies. There is a feeling from both sides (TLOU defenders and TLOU critics) that The Last of Us was snubbed during award season, a feeling that is both untrue and which belies a lack of understanding about tꦜhe ceremonies as a whole.

I’m fairly neutral on The Last of Us, which in and of itself makes me a bit of an anomaly. It’s technically very impressive, and some of its narrative moments are emotionally resonant, with Abby pr﷽oviding some of the best character development I’ve seen in gaming. But it’s also unrelentingly dreary and nihilistic, he🦩avy-handed with its politics, lacking in world-building, and its gameplay is far less slick than many would have you believe.

It’s a great game that I can understand other people not liking at all, but many struggle to see this. Those who love it can’t see any flaws that might cause others to disengage, and this makes them overly defensive of, say, a remake being packaged as TLOU with TLOU2 gameplay, only for that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:to turn out false. It’s good that they’rℱe charging $70 to advertise a TV show I already know I’m going to watc𒐪h, actually.

Likewise, those who missed the TLOU boat will hear no word on its technical supremacy, which is besmirched into null by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Naughty Dog’s 🅠crunch, and think anyone who enjoys or supports the game represents everything wrong with modern gaming. Each conversation is zero sum in The Last of Us. One side is right, and one side is wrong. As the Emmys show, even when they agree, they can’t agree.

Both sides feel The Last of Us was snubbed. Those who loved it are outraged, or at least highly disappointed, while those who hate it are having a good laugh at high society (AKA television) apparently re🌟jecting it outright. But here’s the thing: The Last of Us was not snubbed at all.

The Last of Us was nominated for 24 Emmys, and has already won a third of them (for those not so quick with a calculator, that’s eight). The Primetime Emmys haven’t happened yet, with Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Directing, and Drama Series still to be awarded, but they don’t just give you eight Emmys for showing u🌱p.

This means The Last of Us has already won more Emmys than The Wire, BoJack Horseman, Better Call Saul, Parks & Recreation, Friends, Killing Eve, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Trek, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and Peಌaky Blinders combined.

Its wins were in Picture Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, VFX, Title Design, Prosthetic Make Up, and crucially, 𝔉Guest Actor and Guest Actress, which were taken home by Nick Offerman and Storm Rei♛d.

No one really seems to be paying much attention to this, however. It’s expected that the technical awards might be overlooked by the general public, and Storm Reid&ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚrsqu꧃o;s turn felt under-appreciated at the time. But surely the win for Nick Offerman, the most talked about performance in the entire show, confirmﷺs that The Last of Us is at least leaving here with some🅘thing?

However, fans of the game (and by extension, show) evidently expected it to win the lot, rather than be shut out at the Golden Globes by Succession. As an acclaimed show built off dialogue and performance in its final season, it was pretty much a lock going up against a new s🌃how most revered for its 🧔story which didn’t even originate in television. The Last of Us left the Golden Globes with no wins from its three nominations (Best Actor, Actress, and Drama Series), but this is no disgrace for the show in a tough year.

On the other hand, some would paint this nigh🥀t as an embarrassment for The Last of Us, as a humiliating wedgie as Hollywood rejected the ideas of Pixeltown and shoved its mayor, Neil Druckmann, in a locker. ♑A viral clip has circled of Druckmann on the red carpet at the Golden Globes apparently being ignored, even though there are several official photos of him taken on the red carpet and through the ceremony.

For those who have taken up arms against The Last of Us, the Globes were 💝not just some awards the show didn’t win, but proof positive that The Last of Us does not belong there. This game has chased the prestige of mainstream adoration, and as these people would tell it, has been found wanting on the biggest stage.

Ironically, the biggest thing that shows The Last of Us does not belong in this company is the fanbase itself, which expected TLOU to sweep while having little knowledge or respect for t൩he other nominees.

The Last of Us is a show in its first year going up against an extremely tough rival, and its best years are ahead of it. There is some difficulty in recreating the structure of the game’s sequel, and navigating (or filling) the time skip, but whatever side of the argument🐠 you’re on, most people would say Part 2 is an elevation of what came before. There is plenty of time for The Last of Us to win more awards, and it already has eight Emmys, including two for acting. It’s a haul many shows would be exceedingly proud of, and there’s more to come.
