Unused Take In The Last Of Us' Season 2 Finale Shows Ellie Fighting Owen

Fo𒉰otage of an unused take of the sce🍌ne shows Ellie physically fighting with Owen, just as she does in The Last of Us Part 2. In the end, showrunner Craig Mazin decided to go with the take we saw in the finale, in which Ellie shoots Owen (and Mel, inadvertently) as he reaches for his own weapon.

Mazin had already explained why he changed this confrontation in an interview with . "Ellie is not re🧸ally capable of killing Owen - you look at Bella [Ramsey] and you look at Spencer Lord, he’s 6’4″ and just incredibly imposing," he explains. "A physical struggle wasn’t going to go well, and she’s not there to kill them. She just wants to ki🌠ll Abby."

There's been a lot of ba♏cklash to this change, buﷺt Mazin was pleased with it at the time. Season 1 also showed a younger Ellie fending for herself, both against humans and infected, although this would have been a two-on-one fight with little room to get behind cover.
