I am upset. Heartbroken, even. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:I wrote just a week ago that I’m still holding out for the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Knights of the Old Republic remake, and with a recent development noticed by Star Wars fans, it looks like we may never get it. Amidst ongoing development issues, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:budget cuts aᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚt its parent publisher Emb😼racer, and a huge two billion deal falling through, Sony haﷺs deleted tweets about the game and hidden the trailer from its official PlayStation YouTube channel.
This doesn’t mean the game is cancelled, but it doesn’t bode well. It’s hard to explain it away without the possibility, even the probability, that the game has been scrapped altogether. But it’s been a long time coming, as much as I and other fans have been living in denial. In May, Embracer’s CEO no-commented a question about the remake’s development status. Just days prior, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:an insider said that the game will nevꦫer come out.
I’m choosing to be optimistic. Perhaps this is all just a run-up to a re-announcement or a new trailer that more accurately l🍸ists Saber Interactive as the game’s developer, as opposed to its previous developer, Aspyr. But that’s probably a naive point of view. The remake was teased in September 2021, and as early as July 2022, we were already getting reports that a proof-of-concept demo had failed to pass muster at a review meeting. Senior leads were removed from the project, and it quickly shifted to Saber Interactive. We’ve had no news since then.
This lack of updates could be down to Embracer jumping the gun and announcing the game far too early in the development cycle. It’s a trend plaguing the triple-A games space, as I said in tꦡhis piece, where I directly cited the KOTOR remake 🎶as an example. In an effort to build hype, studios are a𒁃nnouncing games years before they’re even ready – in this case, before the proof of concept demo was even approved. Games of this scope take a long time to make, and delays happen due to factors outside of the developers’ control. There might simply be nothing for the public to see at this point.
But take this absence of news in the context of Embracer’s silence on the project, extensive budget cuts and restructuring, rumours of the game being in development h🧜ell, and the recent two billion dollar deal fallout that led to Embracer shutting down studios and pausing development on certain games. Notably, , just days from now. There have been long-standing rumours that KOTOR will never get its remake, and I have a sinking feeling that this is the last nail in the coffin.
It seems foolish to be shutting down this project in particular, given that Star Wars has been flooding the public media diet since Disney started making show after show set in its universe for Disney+. It’s especially disappointing when you ♉think about how Knights of the Old Republic is widely considered one of the best games of the original Xbox generation, and it would have made a killing if remade for current-gen consoles. I hope it’s not cancelled, but it sure looks like it is༺.
