Most people won’t be getting The Jackbox Party Pack 10 for their first taste of Jackbox. Instead, it’ll be a question of whether they add 𝔉this one to their collection. The best starter Jackboxes remain 3, 5, and Party Starter,🗹 but Party Pack 10 has some solid offerings that make it a worthwhile choice.

First off, there’s Tee KO 2. Most Jackboxes these days include a sequel to a game mode that already exists, and this tends to be the mai𒁃n draw. Champ’d Up was supposed to be the pseudo-sequel to Tee KO, but it never really got the traction, so the real deal was called in.

The premise of Tee KO 2 is the same as the original - draw a funny picture, write some funny slogans, someone matches those up to꧋ create the funniest t-shirt. The sequel lets you make this a vest or a hoodie as well, though that probably matters more if you’re in the mar🦋ket for one of these stupid shirts. As the proud owner of a Jackbox tee, I get it. You can also customise the font, for the same reason.

The changes aren’t just for the few people daft enough to buy the shirts, though (again, guilty). The biggest upgrade is that in round two, rather than draw again, you can instead edit drawings that other people mad𒀰e in the first round. This opens up for a lot of callbacks and in-jokes, while also adding a unique twist that makes it stand out from other Jackbox drawing games. The time given to draw (three 90 second timers in a row) feels too long, especially against the very short time for writing slogans, but otherwise this is a great sequel and a solid enough reason to buy the pack. The avatars are all characters from previous Jackboxes too, which is cute.

The only issue with Tee ꦦKO 2 is that the final vote is not a vote, but requires rapid taps of the screen. At least two of our party had an error message after tapping too quic𒁃kly - a teething problem to sort out soon.

Next up is FixyText, the new game that’s been pushed the most. It’s very chaotic and not for everyone, but got some great laughs from our group. The idea is you’re replying to a text with a certain intention (in our case, to stop someone from flirting). As a group, one team replies at once, all writing in the same text at the s꧑ame time. You can’t delete, not even your own typos, so the message fills up fast. It’s far less controlled than the comedy of Quiplash or Job Job, but with a silly enough group it will go down well.

FixyText is probably the strongest of the new games, both in concept and execution. The only issue is writing at the same time to a time limit can m🍸ean you get in each others’ way and you’re just saying stupid words to get points, rather than making an actual joke as you might in other comedy games.

Next up is TimeJinx, the trivia game of the pack. The idea here is you’re a time traveller, and so all the questions are variations of ‘what year did X&r🔯squo; happen. You’d think that would make it stale, but the colourful presentation and the fact scores are derived from how many years out you were each time adds some flavour.

It could stand to be more adventurous though. It gives you a pr꧒etty tight window of two years to fall between, while freedom to put whatever you want would offer greater challenge. There was also a quickfire round about blending into decades from the past, but our decades ran from 1990-2019, which isn’t so much time travelling as it is ‘remembering things you were alive for’. Some people don’t like the pre🎉ssure of Jackbox trivia games, especially when they involve murder, but TimeJinx’s consistent themes and the addition of a narrowed option of dates makes it a bit more approachable.

After that the♍re’s✤ Dodo Re Mi, which is more of a mobile minigame than a Jackbox offering. It’s Guitar Hero but on your phone, with up to nine of you playing together in a band. This game was the worst for connection issues, with one of us unable to see the beats popping on their screen at all. It’s Piano Tap, but inside Jackbox. Take it or leave it - I don’t like when Jackbox games don’t feel Jackboxy, and Dodo Re Mi is not Jackboxy at all.

Finally, there’s Hypnotorious, a game that doesn’t fit into any easy category but feels at home in Jackbox. It’s kind of like Fakin’ It, but with less deception. Or maybe it’s Role Models, except good. In any case, you’re assigned an identity, and need to answer in character. I was Uranus, while some of the other players were Osc🐓ar Wilde or Davy Jones. We answered questions in character, then had to guess which other player we belonged with - we had two poets, two pirates, and one planet. Though confusing at first, the second game was better after we’d grasped the rules.

The big downside to Hypnotorious though is that there are no points for deception, or for being funny. We vote for who has no partner in their category at the end,🅺 but you don’t know if it’s you so there’s no layering. Rather than make hilarious jokes about🧸 butt stuff, I could just say ‘I’m Uranus’ and nothing would really change.

Hypnotorious in Jackbox Party Pack 10

Overall, Jackbox Party Pack 10 is not the s𝓡trongest selection in Jackbox history, but it’s solid and reliable𓃲 without any major misfires. It’s also one of the most varied boxes ever, with five distinct approaches here. That’s not going to work if you just play Jackbox for laughs, but if you want some variety in your library, Jackbox Party Pack completes the Jackbox roster well.
