Alongside this, the game's producer, Lee Beom-jun, and director, Joo Min-seok, discussed how the game launched with the Korean website , sharing that they were shocked at just how poorly The First Descendant was received.
"I didn't expect it to be high, but I didn't expect it to be 57 points either."
The First Descendant got off to a strange start. The game hit a staggering peak concurre♈nt player count on Steam of almost 265,000 people; however, it was mired in controversy.
Player complaints quickly arose about the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:overuse of Bunny, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:seemingly unfair drop rates, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:single-use paints, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:"predatory" mꦺonetization practices. And, as time passed, more dissatisfaction spread throughout the community, with players unhappy with the game's "inflated" seasonal challenges and the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:new "gar🍸bage"🦄 descendant Luna. These complaints led the two Nexon developers to share their thoughts on the game's launch.
"At first, I was lost in thought after seeing the Metacritic score. I didn't expect it to be high, but I didn't expect it to be 56 points... no, 57 points either. At first, I was hoping for a better rating even if the indicators were a little lacking, but it was the complete opposite. The ratings were much lower than expected, and the indicators were better than expected," Lee said.
I'm working with the mindset of doing my best to solve the problems right in front of me rather than drawing a big picture.
Director Joo felt similarly, "I think there are many things lacking. For me, everything I've experienced since launching is new. It's the first time a game has been this popular, the first time I've received this much feedback, and the first time I've had this much to worry about," he said.
These feelings led to a sharp shift in the way he worked. "Since everything is new, I'm working with the mindset of doing my best to solve the problems right in front of me rather than drawing a big picture. Sometimes, I get flustered when I see harsh feedback, but most of the time, it's issues that the developers and I feel the same way. We're also die-hard gamers of First Descendants, and sometimes we get feedback from employees that's not that different from what the gamers are feeling."
While unhappy with the review scores, Lee took solace in knowing Bungie went through something similar. He told Inven, "Two years ago, I heard a lecture by Bungie at IGC. In the end, Bungie had the same conceꦅrns as we did. I think the important thing is ‘speed.’ The fastest possible changes, orga𓆉nic responses to feedback, and quick decision-making. We’re also focusing on that perspective now."
This attitude towards quick change is likely to be viewed as positive by the game's hardcore player base, as over 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:70% of players hav𝕴e dropped out since launch.
