This quest serves as the final dungeon to the game's main story and will pit you against challenging enemies without any hope of retreat. Once again, you'll be fighting draugr and dragons as you solve puzzles on your way through an ancient Nordic crypt to break into the afterlife. If any quest needs a guide, this is the one.

Starting The World-Eater's Eyrie

A man rides a dragon on a clear blue day

The quest follows The Fallen, where you trap Odahviing and convince him to lend you his aid. He tells you that Alduin has retreated to Sovngarde, the Nordic afterlife, to feast on the souls of heroes. As a living person, following him there is normally impossible.

Odahviing explains that Alduin uses a portal at the ancient ruin Skuldafn to reach Sovngarde. As a flightless bipedal Dragonborn, reaching it yourself is beyond you. The only being that can help is Odahviing, who conveniently needs to be released to do so. With no other options, you must agree to his offer to continue.

Talk to the Whiterun Guard up the stairs to release the dragon. Odahviing will stand at the edge of Dragonsreach, waiting for you to get ready. Once you are satisfied, tell him and fly off to the end.

Not only is Skuldafn long and challenging, but you will not be able to return to Skyrim until you have completed the remaining quests. Be aware that your followers will not be able to come with you. Make sure that you're stocked up on potions and other supplies before you get going.

Getting Into Skuldafn

A man fights a pair of undead warriors in an ancient ruin

Odahviing will depart after dropping you off, leaving you alone with a whole dungeon ahead of you. As soon as you start making your way forward, you will be attacked by draugr and a dragon.

There are a pair of optional towers containing loot and draugr. You can only reach the southern tower.

After the first bridge, take a right and turn left into a courtyard. You will be attacked by more draugr, likely accompanied by another dragon. Go straight from the courtyard, passing under a pair of bridges, and turn left to go up a staircase to reach Skuldafn Temple.

Skuldafn Temple

Inside the ruin, you will fight through a handful of draugr before reaching your first puzzle, a pair of closed-off doorways and a trio of spinning stone pillars.

Solving the first Skuldafn Puzzle

To solve the puzzle, look for four hints spread around the room. These are carvings that match the faces on the pillars. If you face north, t🌟hey are arrayed in the following order from west to east:

1

2

3

4

Fish

Snake

Bird

Snake

The solution to the puzzle is to match each pillar's face to the closest hint.

If you are struggling, stand at the lever and face south. Arrange the three pillars in the following order relative to that position.

Left

Center

Right

Bird

Bird

The central pillar's engraving will determine which door you will open. Snake will open the left gate, leading deeper into Skuldafn. Bird opens the right gate, leading to loot.

You can open both gates without any consequences.

After solving the puzzle, you will reach a small room with yet more draugr with a webbed-up doorway. As it suggests, you will need to kill Frostbite Spiders in the next room. You will encounter a second puzzle at the end.

Solving The Second Skuldafn Puzzle

Your progress will be halted in a large room with two floors and a raised drawbridge. The second puzzle is found here. Clear out the draugr before you start.

You can Whirlwind Sprint through the drawbridge at the right angle.

This second puzzle uses the same spinning pillars that the prior one did. The pillars are kept in alcoves marked by a stone engraving that matches one of the three faces of each pillar. Rotate the pillars to match the symbol of the alcove they are kept in. The West pillar is directly in front of the entrance.

Solving the puzzle will lower the drawbridge, allowing you to continue.

There will be more draugr as you continue through Skuldafn Temple. You will eventually reach a spiral staircase. Don't stand on it immediately. A trap will trigger, and it will be set alight. Climb up once the fire burns out to fight more draugr and look for a lever in a small room visible at the staircase. Pulling it will open the door to this room.

The next room is a long tunnel with an oil slick spread through it. Try to set the oil alight as soon as possible to avoid having it used against you. The third and final puzzle is located at the end.

Solving the Skuldafn Dragon Claw Puzzle

Make sure to kill the high-level enemy at the puzzle. They are holding the Diamond Dragon Claw necessary to solve this wall. As always, like in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bleak Falls Barrow, check the palm of the claw for🎃 the correct pattern. In this case, from top to bottom, it is:

  • Fox
  • Butterfly
  • Dragon

The final room contains a Word Wall for the Shout Storm Call. Follow the quest marker to leave🗹 Skuldafn Temple and reach the portal.

This is your only chance to claim the word for Storm Call, as you cannot return to Skuldafn after the quest.

Defeating Nahkriin

A man approaches another with a massive pillar of light illuminating the background

Emerging back into the open air, you fight four draugr at the foot of a staircase leading to a beam of light. Defeat them and ascend the stairs to fight Nahkriin, the Dragon Priest stopping you from reaching the portal. He will remove his staff from a mechanism, closing the portal and forcing you to fight.

You might notice that there are a pair of dragons in this area. They are not aggressive unless attacked.

Nahkriin is a powerful spellcaster. He will use long-ranged spells to damage you at a distance, having access to a wide range of spells. Making things worse, he will summon a Storm Atronach to help him in the fight. If you are struggling, there are a few strategies that make it easier to get past hi🃏m.

Melee

Fighting him up close will be frustrating. He will float away from you while striking you with spells. He will not hesitate to use frost spells to deplete your stamina If you are able to withstand his attacks, you can stun him with power attacks as you whittle his health down. Taking breaks to heal and recover where possible would be wise. This strategy can be made easier by using Spellbreaker and chugging plenty of potions.

Magic

Fighting Nahkriin with magic is inviting one challenging duel. Thanks to his staff, depleting him of magicka using shock spells will not guarantee success. If you are a skilled destruction mage, the perk Impact will let you st🐠un him repeatedly, making it harder for him to fight back.

Archery

Nahkriin will not willingly approach the player. You can take advantage of a small pillar by the stairs leading to his staff by sheltering behind it and shooting arrows until he dies. This is not 𒅌a particularl🌳y honorable method of beating him but it does work.

Assassination

You will have a short window to sneak attack him if you are patient in your approach and are sufficiently skilled.

Ignoring him

If you run very quickly, you can jump into the portal before he can close it. Doing this will prevent you from collecting his mask and from completing the side activity at Labyrinthian.

When he is defeated, collect his mask and staff. Interact with the altar to open the portal and enter Sovngarde.
