The Cure for Madness is not another long and drawn-out assassination. This is a revenge mission and is as straightforward as it gets before you consider the traps and enemies waiting for you. It may seem like a distraction from the m🐟ain event, but it is a sign of thingsꦰ to come.

Starting The Cure For Madness

An injured argonian lays on the ground, surrounded by friends inside an assassin's sanctuary.

This quest begins as you complete Breaching Security by speaking to Gabriella at the entrance of the Sanctuary. After congratulating you on your success, she tells you to head inside to speak to Astrid.

The Brotherhood will be standing around Veezara, tending to his wounds. Cicero had gone crazy and attacked the argonian before fleeing with Arnbjorn in pursuit. Worried about her husband, Astrid asks you to search Cicero's room to find clues as to where he might have gone.

While not required, reading Cicero's journals explains his current state of mind and why your appointment as Listener is so important. It also shows you the dismal state of the Dark Brotherhood throughout Tamriel.

Getting Shadowmere

A midnight black horse rises from a violently bubbling pool of black ichor wreathed in menacing smoke.

The quest marker leads you to one of Cicero's journals. You will need to bring it to Astrid who will ask you to kill Cicero. She lets you use her personal horse, Shadowmere, for the chase. Leave the sanctuary and approach the indicated black pool for the steed to emerge. From here, go to Dawnstar to find Arnbjorn.

Shadowmere is no ordinary horse. He boasts more health than his less macabre counterparts and will return to life after ten days if killed.

Clearing Out The Dawnstar Sanctuary

A grizzled man sporting long, white hair clutches his wounded stomach in pain on a snowy coast in front of a menacing door marked with a skull.

The Dawnstar Sanctuary is just north of the city. Follow the coast northeast, past the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Museum of the Mythic Dawn until you reach Arnbjorn. Though hurt, he will live. Telling you that Cicero has fled inside, he leaves for the Sanctuary.

When you approach the door, provide it with the correct code, "Innocence, my brother". It will allow you to en🅰ter an🎃d continue the chase.

Though poorly maintained and decrepit, the old Sanctuary is still defended by ghostly Sanctuary Guardians and a series of traps that are ready to punish unobservant intruders.

There is a Jester's Outfit on a table to the left of the entrance. This set is similar to Cicero's distinctive outfit with useful enchantments. As a unique set, you may be interested in taking it.

After descending the stairs, you will be confronted with the first of the Sanctuary Guardians and Cicero's mocking. The route is fairly linear. Go across the room, reaching a bridge with a spear trap ready to skewer you as you cross. There will be more guardians across the bridge.

Turn left after the bridge to go down some stairs and reach a circular chamber filled with oil. Be careful not to get caught in the oil when it is set alight. It will damage Guardians attacking you if timed well.

A man dressed in tights hurls a fireball at a rapidly approaching troll.

You will be able to reach an open area visible from the first room here. Go through the broken glass and into icy tunnels. While it may appear labyrinthine, it is deceptively simple. Follow the tunnel until you reach a fork. Both of them lead to the same unique troll in the next room though they dictate how you encounter it.

  • The left tunnel leads you to a lower area that lets you sneak up on the troll.
  • The right tunnel takes you directly to the troll for a head-on fight.

The rest of the Sanctuary is a slog through more Guardians to reach Cicero.

Cicero's Fate

A jester curled up in pain tries to surrender to an assassin.

You find him curled up on the ground, seemingly on his last legs. He tries to reason with you, allowing you to gloat at his imminent demise or stay silent. This opens a choice where you can choose to defy Astrid and spare him or carry out your orders.

Kill Cicero

You will discover that his weakened state is just a ruse when he springs to life at full health. He will put up a good fight thanks to his equipment and skills.

Killing him will allow you to loot his unique armor that is stronger than the set at the entrance as well as his ebony dagger.

Spare Cicero

Choosing not to kill him will have no effect on the story until the conclusion of the Dark Brotherhood's tale. He will become available as a follower at the end.

Whichever decision you make, return to Astrid to deliver news of Cicero's demise. She does not question it and sends you to Festus Krex for the next stage of the Emperor's assassination and starting the quest Recipe for Disaster.
