Every new run dumps you in a random location on a big open map and your goal is to get resources and escape alive on an evac ship with those scavenged items. If you’re strug💜gling to get s𓆉tarted or are having a hard time getting out alive with loot, then here’s a guide to Solo Play in The Cycle: Frontier.
How To Start Solo Play
Starting solo play is pretty easy and quick, so you can drop immediately back into the action if you so wish on either the Bright Sands or Crescent Falls maps. This is perfect if you’re having a𓆉 good grinding session or ar🌃e looking to just set up a match and go without too much hassle.
There are two options available, either you can launch it from within the various menus with just a button press, simple and easy. Or, you can run over to the drop pod within the rather large HUB area to get a new game going. Which is helpful if you need to browse some of the stores, faction lead𒁃ers, or just interact with other Prospectors that are passing by in the zone between drops.
Solo PvP Tips
When you’re playing solo the PvP should be your main concern front and center as the sections of the planet you can drop into are often swarming with players. Even more so if you choose the smaller and more difficult Crescent Falls map.
Staying alive and getting to the evac zone intact and with your 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:pockets full of exotic loot𝕴 can be ha✅rd enough as is. But here are some tips to help you get out in one piece with a nice payday.
Don't Take Too Much Gear
The easiest rookie mistake you can make in The Cycle: Frontier is to take too much gear in. The more luggage you take planetside to help you get by, the larger the potential loss is if you die.
So travel light, especially if you're new as it's very easy to lose all that gear in seconds. Even more if you're playing on Crescent Falls as the air is often filled with bullets and buckshot. Traveling light is also relatively inexpensive to insure and le😼aves plenty of room for more 🗹loot once you start exploring Fortuna III.
Learn To Listen
Surprisingly sound plays a big part in The Cycle: Frontier. Making too much noise when you're moving around makes you that much of an easier target. So being stealthy is key.
As an example, sprinting makes heavy footfalls and splashes in water, whilst crouch walking renders you silent. The same goes for gunfire and explosions as every little pop can be heard pretty far and wide across the map. If you're ever unsure in an area, it can pay to take a second and listen or crank up the volume on your headset for a moment.
Keep One Eye On The Skies
Drops in The Cycle: Frontier can run for hours and the map is constantly emptying aಞnd filling with players. Which makes the skies get quite b✅usy after a while and you can take advantage of this.
As an example, evacuating calls down a dropship that's loud, easily seen, and hangs around just long enough to let anyone nearby set up ambushes. Also when new players enter, their drop pod can be seen screeching through the sky and if you're fast you can get an easy kill. This is because for a crucial few seconds someone is going through the exit animation to get out of their pod they are incredibly vulnerable and often quite far from any usable cover. So keep an eye skyward if you're looking for easy kills.
Focus On A Specific Loadout
There are quite a lot of fun toys to take into a drop, especially if you've hit the crafting hard and are carting around some exotic gear in your stash. From 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:buckshot blasting shotguns to SMGs, sniper rifles, rockets, and more weird weapons available from the three Faction Leaders, there's plenty of bang for your buck.
But instead of going in like a rabid Rambo, it's worth taking some time to think about the gear you're bringing along. You only have so much space for guns and ammo in your inventory that could be better used for loot. Plus, attachments for certain weapons can be pretty pricey. So it's much more cost-effective to focus down hard on a specific set instead of using a broad brush. Plus, with the constant threat of potentially losing your gear, having just one or two maxed-out guns to cover with Salvage Tokens or Aurum is also much cheaper instead of carrying a small army's worth of armaments.
Solo PvE Tips
The other side of the gameplay loop in The Cycle: Frontier is the PvE and resource collection. This basically involves mining every single resource node you come across and blasting apart anything on the planet that's got more than two legs or isn't human.
But there are a few things worth knowing before you go tramping all around Fortuna III that can make the deadly safari you take whilst planetside a little easier. So here are a couple of pointers for Prospectors looking to harvest the planet's treasures.
Start Exploring Right Away
The second your drop pod touches down you should be hustling in🙈 the direction of the nearest node. Because of how often other players drop-in, the majority of the outer map areas tend to be completely♈ scoured of anything worthwhile.
Moving further in is a consistently reliable way to get gear and resources, but it's also the most dangerous. Other players also tend to sprint straight to the center of the map. So it's always busier but there are often more nodes and loot left lying around.
Watch Out For Monsters
The aliens in The Cycle: Frontier may look harmless, and go down relatively easily, but they're very good at catching you unaware. They often patrol in packs and chase you quite a bit further than you might think.
The screeching roars of these nightmarish creatures can also bring in the attention of other host💟ile packs or worse, other players. There are also large Alpha variants that can give you a pretty fast all expenses paid trip back to the orbiting Space Station in a box.
Don’t Destroy Entire Resource Nodes
Dotted around the map are various resour✤ce nodes that need to be broken apart to get to the precious gemstones they have hidden inside. Though instead of bonking the hitbox of some mysterious alien rocks, you need to physically break apart each rocky mound.
It's an interesting little mechanic that can let you perfect the method by which you get the loot inside. A good tip is to break off the edge in one spot, peek inside, grab what's there, then leave. Destroying the entire pile doesn't net you anything extra and it's a waste of time that could be better spent hunting down other nodes on the map.
Solo Evac Tips
The last part of the experience of playing solo in The Cycle: Frontier is the evac mechanic. This is how you get off Frontier III to turn in any gear and items you managed to salvage.
But the downside of it is that when you call in a dropship for evac you'll need to run across to the map to where it is, which is often quite far across player-filled territory. Plus, it's very easy to see the ship come in, allowing ample time for someone to lie in wait for you.
Don't Run To The Ship Right Away
One of the easiest mistakes you can make when calling in an evac ship is to run to it straight away. Though fast escapeꦺs are ideal, after it lands the dropship will sit there for a few moments whilst it waits for everyone to get on and drop their gear inside.
There’s not a lot of cover inside it, and the doors are pretty wide. So it’s very easy for someone to run up from behind and empty a magazine into your back. Other players often like to camp out near extraction zones, so try to wait a minute or two before jumping on board to see if anyone's lurking nearby, waiting for an easy kill.
You Can Evac On Other Ships
An interesting and handy feature of the evacuation ships is that they’re not locked to just the player that called them in. Anyone can jump on board and it will count as a successful evac. Which can make for some interesting moments 🎉in some of the busier zones.
It’s a neat little trick to pull that saves you the hassle of calling in a drop-ship of your own. It’s even better if there’s already a firefight over the ship between other players as you can just sneak on board when they’re not looking. So if you see a dropship coming in and you’re looking for an exit, try to bump a ride if you can.
