The tavern simulation and adventure video game Travellers Rest has officially opened its doors for business on program. Being billed as “Stardew Valley, but with more beer,” Travellers Rest allows you to build and operate your own fantasy tavern, complete with food, tavern and inn gue💜sts, dealing with a🙈dventurers, and beer. Lots and lots of beer.
Developed by Louqou and published by Metaboli Publishing, Travellers Rest poured into Early Access on July 28th, and is expected to have its official full release in mid-2021, depending on how well community feedback and development go. Travellers Rest gives you ownership of a run-down tavern in the midst of a g🉐rowing town thirsty for a place to gather and drink with their fellow citizens. You’re able to brew and ser🥂ve your own beer, farm your own food to serve in your tavern, and decorate the place with furniture and other items you source and build yourself.
The main focus is on keeping your tavern guests happy, and not only by filling them full of beer. You can grow or so𒉰urce new ingredients to create new food recipes in your kitchen, then serve them to guests to hopefully increase your tavern’s reputation. A gallant bard may show up in your tavern, creating a sudden special occasion you’ll have 𓂃to be prepared for. And you can practice and raise your social skills by talking to your guests and earning experience points to level up your in-game character.
Travellers Rest art, graphics, and gameplay style all look similar to Stardew Valley, and that’s not a bad thin༺g. The fantasy pixel art aspects work well for a tavern management sim, and may have helped the developers make the decision to conduct an Early Access program after receiving a greatly positive response to the game’s initial demo version reveal.
Since its Early Access release, dev Louqou has added the ability to build, decorate, and rent rooms to travelers; have a pet cat, with its own bed, water bowl, and relationship system; and deploy a magic broom to automagically help keep your tavern floors clean. More additions and improvements are on the way, of course, as well as a quarterly roadmap showing the current and future plans for the g🐈ame.
