The Deep Grand Reef is accessed through a cave system in the Grand Reef. You’ll pass a Ghost Leviathan in the Grand Reef to get there. Below, you’ll need to look out for Crabsquids that patrol the area. Crabsquids can send a shockwave that emits an EMP, d🍰isabling your devices. Stranded in a cave with aggressive fauna is a recipe for pure terror.

There are unwelcoming inhabitants down there, so one quick chase from them can make you lose your way completely. If you can’t find an Oxygen Plant or scramble your way back out, the Deep Twisty Bridges can quickly become your grave.

The Dunes are a vast, sandy biome 🔯with small hills to creep over. Swimming through that space makes you feel completely out in the open. There are only a few natural structures, including a crater and a small sinkhole.

The main feature of the Dunes biome is the eight reaper leviathans patrolling the waters. That’s on top of the Warpers, Sand Sharks, and other hostile creatures. There aren’t many reasons to enter the Dunes apart from pure curiosity. The main defenders of the Inactive Lava Zone are the two patrolling Sea Dragon Leviathans. There’s nothing more terrifying than hearing their guttural roar all around you. In the orange haze of the biome, it’s easy to glide a littꦚle too close and anger them. It’s a large area with many things to explore, but there’s an eeriness to it that you just can’t shake.

There are Lava Larva in the Inactive Lava Zone. These creatures are purple and bug-like. They stick to your vehicles and d♊rain them of power, so get them off as soon as you can.

3 Mountains

The Mountains area may seem quite baron at first. Its main feature is the Mountain Island, containing many points for exploration and various resources to collect. It’s a safe place, with only a f𒊎ew Cave Crawlers to keep an eye out for.

Underneath, it’s not so safe. It’s an open space that makes you feel vulnerable. Reaper Leviathan’s patrol the open waters, even⛦ close to the island. You’ll need to keep an eye out when you dive down. 🐓It’s also important not to stray too far since you may end up at the Crater Edge by accident.

The Crash Zone is the most prominent area in Subnautica, easily identified by the Aurora sitting in the middle of it. The area is filled with radiation, making it impossib𒊎le to approach early on.

Debris is scattered throughout the biome, accompanied by the constant rumbles of the crashed ship that causes a sandy effect in the wa༺ter, making it hard to see. All around the Aurora are ten reaper leviathans. Luckily, some are on the opposite side, which you can avoid entirely. The others, however, are likely to be directly in your path of exploration.

The Crater Edge is th෴e steep drop at the edge of the map that you’ll easily miss. It’s not until you get a terrifying PDA update that you’ll realize how far you’ve actually strayed. If you stay out there too long, a Ghost Leviathan won’t hesitate to put you in your place.

It doesn’t stop with one; up to three Ghost Leviathan’s can spawn, and they’re bigger than those you may have already encountered. If you’re not careful, they’ll destroy whatever vehicle you’re in and leave you stranded in the open water.
