Every real-time strategy game is a little bit different, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Stronghold Crusader is no exception. If you're used to more fantasy fare, or even the more balance-forward approach of historical games like Age of Empireꦰs, the battles in Stronghold might at first seem tricky. Arms and armor play an enormous role, and a few well-eq♐uipped troops can cleave through hordes of peasant conscripts with ease.

Stronghold Crusader: 𒁃Definitive Edition - 8 Beginner Tips
New to Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition? These beginner tips will help you build smarter, defend better, and co❀nquer your enemies with ease.
Add in the game's small but deep roster 🌼of siege w🥃eaponry and focus on defensive gameplay, and you'll find that the standard strategies from other games just don't work. Here's everything you need to know to start winning battles.
Combat Basics
At its heart, Stronghold is like any other RTS; some units excel in melee, others at range, and still more have unique, specialized roles. Until you've learned the specifics of each unit type, a good way to approach the game is just to look at a unit's gear.
- Units with no armor have the least health, leather armor have medium health, and metal armor can absorb dozens of blows before succumbing. By contrast, the heavier the armor, the slower a unit will generally move.
- Ranged weapons are great for attacking from behind walls (or shooting at defenders on top of them), but are wildly inaccurate, so massed volleys are the way to go if you want to get anything done with them.
- Siege equipment is powerful and useful for dealing with armored units or getting into a fortified area, but vulnerable if melee units get close enough to dismantle it.
You can generally do as much or as little micromanaging of orders and targeting as you like during battle. Some units, though, like Horse Archers, are bette🦂r with some extra guidance, and traps like Pitch Ditches need to be manually triggered, so you do need to take at least a bit of an active role in fights.
Hiring any military unit requires an idle peasant, who will immediately transform into the unit and move to the appropriate rally point. If there are no idle peasants, you can't hire new soldiers; usually, this means you need to build more Hovels or increase your Popularity.
Sieges
Apart from campaign missions with specific objectives, your goal in a game of Stronghold is to get inside your opponents' castles and take down their Lord. Build your army (and the economy behind it) with the intent of getting through their walls and fighting past the defenders, while pꦦreventing them from doing the same to you. You'll need plenty of melee, ranged, and siege units, on both offense and defense, to make it happen.
Ha🍬ve a plan for attacking your opponent's castle, and one for defending♏ your own!
European Units
The soldiers of the invading Crusaders are recruited from the Barracks. You need to either manufacture or purch🔴ase their equipment and have it stored in the Armory before you can hire them.

Tip(s) |

20 |
All-purpose ranged unit. |
Slower rate 🌺of fire, but deals more damage and has more health. |

Extremely fast despite their armor, Macemen are good fꦜor outflanking and clearing bow lines, or for rushi🌠ng an undefended position. |
Pikeman |
Pike, Metal Armor |
20 |
Defensive infantry. |
Slow and durable butꦆ with low damage, they're u𝔍seful for holding the line until reinforcements show up. |

Extremely weak, but faster than most other 🌸Crus𝐆ader infantry. Cheap enough to be useful in groups or sacrificed to protect more important units. |
Swordsman |
Sword, Metal Armor |
40 |
Heavy infantry. |

Here’s how to cheat your way to the throne.
Arabian Units
The defenders of the Holy Land are recruited from Mercenary Posts. They supply their own gear, so you don't need to manufacture equipment for them. It's still a good idea to make weapons and armor, though, as you could sell them on the market to finance a large army.
In Skirmishes, you can have both a Barracks and a Mercenary Post, recruiting units from both factions!
Unit |
Gold Cost |
Role |
Tip(s) |
---|---|---|---|
Arabian Bowman |
75 |
Ranged unit |
The mid🗹dle ground between Archers and Crossbows;expensive to field in large numbers though. |
Arabian Swordsman |
80 |
Heavy infantry |
Slight🔥ly faster than European Swordsmen, with a bit less health and damage. These will be the front line of your army. |
Assassin |
60 |
Infiltration |
Invisible until they get close to an enemy and able to scale walls, their main purpose is to open gates from the inside. They can take a few arrows, but you should expect attrition and deploy them in groups.🤡 True to their name, Assassi🅷ns can kill most units if they get to melee range. |
Fire Thrower |
100 |
Building destruction |
Fire throwers are slow and need to get close to their targets, but once they start a fire it can spread quickly. Escort them to resource cam🌄ps or just inside the enemy walls and let the flames do the rest. |
Horse Archer |
80 |
Mobile ranged unit |
Horse Archers can shoot while moving. Be sure to keep them moving while they're in combat to help protect them from return fire. They're also good for drawing away dangerous melee units🙈, who can't possibly catch them; just watch out for Knights. |
Slave |
5 |
Expendable firestarter |
With no armor and just a torch for a weapon, they're used for rushing en masse to light 💫as many fires as possible before getting cut down. Only a few need to get through, especially if your opponent's buildings are tightly packed. |
Slinger |
12 |
Cheap ranged unit |
Slingers are ve♐ry weak, but cheap to recruit and have a fast rate of fire, so a𒁃 large group of them can wear down targets. |
Siege Units
Siege engines need to be operated by Engineers, who are recruited from the Engineers' Guild.
