The Basics of Friendship Levels
You can view your Friendship Level (also known as Heart Levels) with the various characters in Olive Town from your main menu under the Resident Information section.
Each character has 10 hearts next to their name, showing how close you are in terms of friendship. Additionally, there are two different kinds of Heart Levels, pink colored and orange colored. Pink hearts means that the characters can be romanced and eventually married, with there being 10 marriage candꦫidates in total🙈 — five bachelors and five bachelorettes.
How to Raise Friendship Level
There꧙ are a few different ways to raise your Friendship Level with your favorite characters, but regrettably, there's no super fast way as you are limited to what you can do each day.
Here's how to raise your Friendship Level:
- Talking: Speaking with characters will increase your Friendship Level, but only once per day.
- Gifts: Giving gifts to characters will increase your Friendship Level once per day. (Different characters like different gifts.)
- Birthday Gifts: Giving a character a gift on their birthday will earn you twice as many Friendship points. You can find out each character's birthday in the Calendar section of the main menu.
- Communication Skill: You can improve your Communication Skill level by talking to other people. Improving your level will unlock things like new gift recipes and boosts to Friendship points earned.
Note on Gifts: Some gifts can be purchased from the Gener⛦al Store, though it is cheaper to craft gifts yourself. Some of the more expensive gifts such as the Shiny Watch appear to go down well with all characters. The Resident Information tab in the menu will show who you have already given a gift to each day.
Heart Scenes
When it comes to raising your Friendship Level with characters, you will periodically receive a cutscene with them known as Heart Scenes.
These occur each time you fill a heart completely on a character's Friendship gauge, with the tenth and final heart being a proposal scene if you wish to pursue marriage. Heart Scenes are triggered in specific locations for each character, usually their favor🧔ite place or where they spend the most time.
During a Heart Scene, there will be dialogue choi𓆉ces that you can make with the potential to increase your Friendship Level further. These cutscenes use up time from your day, wꦑith some even using a number of in-game hours, so make sure you aren't missing anything you need to do before initiating a Heart Scene.
