Prior to its release, Stel🌼lar Blade became a leading soldier in the internet culture wa🍎r. It was everything that fringe groups believed that video games should be, starring a beautiful woman you could dress up in revealing clothes and risqué costumes, complete with jiggle physics that would make Dead or Alive blush. There was nothing stopping you from treating Eve like an object to be ogled, despite this bein🌼g🐎 made inherently less interesting by her distinct lack of emotional depth or an actual character arc. But hey, she’s really pretty.

Playꩵers have already noticed that the PC version will be launching with , which will no doubt be framed as a victory.

Other female characters in the game world followed in Eve’s footsteps and were designed to look and feel gorgeous, if not much else. In the culture war trenches, certain corners of the internet believed that a game this shameless would quickly be derided and crit🐼icised by game journalists, with agendas to try and demonise any video game that dar🌳ed to sexualise women or go against their world views.

But this proved false, with Stellar Blade while also landing on quite a few GOTY lists by the end of the year. It’s a great game, and the wider world recognized that even if it came with significant baggage. You aren’t a bad person for playing Stellar Blade because you find Eve’s characterไ design to be attractive or appealing, or, if you’re like me, enjoy the cute dress-up aspect and how badly it clashes with the melancholic nature of Shift Up’s narrative and world design. It’s so bizarre in its execution, yet that doesn’t take away from how good it feels to look and play.

Once the dust had cleared, and it was obvious Stellar Blade wasn’t the soldier the culture war needed it to be, the endless discourse moved onto a new target to achieve its undefined goal. But as Stel𝕴lar Blade prepares for its PC release, I’m curious if players will try to reframe it as the victory they have always wanted it to represent.🍎

PC Mods Are Going To Turn Stellar Blade Into Something It’s Not

It’s incredibly telling that now the PC version is on the horizon, the loudest voices in the room aren’t talking about the possibility of playing this game and losing themselves in its world and combat system, but how they can shape Eve into something more. I’ve always been a public supporter of Stellar Blade wearing its sexuality on its sleeve, even if it leans on the ridiculous🅺 at times, and I doubt even the filthiest of user-created mods are going to change that. But I’m begging ♐the internet to be normal about its coming arrival and not try to once again make it into an undeserving figurehead of the same old culture war.
