I remember less about 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Stardew Valley than I expected. Its original launch helped usher in a new era of farming sims with cutesy aesthetics and compelling gameplay loops, to the extent that including ⛦a cosy game of this ilk in a Nintendo Direct has become something of a meme.
While its reductive to label those games as Sta💞rdew Valley clones, it’s hard to believe they’d exist in the same quantity if it wasn’t for ConcernedApe’s masterpiece. Now, with the arrival of a new update, thousands have come back into the fold for the first time in years. Myself included.
Before I jumped back into the game this past weekend, I decided to check my saves across every platform I frequented over the years, ꧂to see if it was worth jumping back in with a sick farm I&🍷rsquo;d already poured hundreds of hours into, or if it was better to start fresh.
While much of t🅠he new content will be available in existing save files, I have to imagine such additions will unfold more naturally during a new ꦚplaythrough.
Part of me was ashamed to realize that across PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC I’ve put well over 200 hours into Stardew Valley, largely during my final year of university, where I decided to focus on harvesting turnips instead of finishing a degree I was too depressed and closeted to care about. It endeღd🌄 up being a surprisingly poignant means of gender expression, and to ꦑreturn all these years later fills me with an oddly nostalgic joy.
After realising how much of a rich loser I was, thanks to my three different farms and the two virtual children and partners I’d long neglected, I deleted the save files and booted up a new one. It was time for a fresh start in Version 1.6, and it’s not like I’m the same person I was all those years ago anyway. Now 🍨I’ve spent five hours on my new homestead, and I have no regrets.
This feels like pulling a reset switch on the entire genre as I return to the juggernaut that helped kick-start its renaissance in the first place. While Harvest Moon ꧟has been occupying our time for decades now, it was Stardew Valley that took that formula and did its best to modernise it as both a labour of love and an understanding of precisely what these sorts of games could be with the correct focus.
It wasn’t just about earning money from planting crops and diving into dungeons, but also forming relationships with complicated characters and creating a new home that perfectly reflects your own personal♉ity. It might be flawed and messy, but so is real life. while some sought to min/max the entire experience so they were mak🌼ing millions with absolutely no interest in a virtual social life amidst Pelican Town.
Starting afresh gave me an opportunity to appreciate everything I had forgotten, while giving me an ample foundation of the vibes and mechan🔯ics I’ve always adored. I can’t think of another game in history that nails a sense of routine as well as Stardew Valley, even as you’re🤡 tasked with the most mundane everyday rituals. I know that all the plants I water and the people in town I converse with each and every day are leading to something, all of which are fresh and exciting in the context of a new save where I’m not trying to patch old memories together.
If you’re thinking about jumping back into Stardew Valley amidst all the curr꧂ent hype, 🍬I can’t recommend wiping the slate clean enough. As farmer Kylo Ren once said, “leave the past behind, til it if you have to.”
