꧒Stardew Valley: 17 Best Crops To Grow In The Greenhouse 🐽
The greenhouse is a great help to you in Stardew Va💯lley, but which are the best crops to grow in it 🀅to make the most of it?
As you unlock more and more content and become a better and better farmer, dealing with seasonal changes will be easier and easier. One way this happens is by using the Greenhouse, a building where you can grow crops indoors, aw💟ay from the elements, and even out of season. We've assembled 🍃this guide so that you're able to take full advantage of this upgrade.
Updated on April 8, 2024 by Eva Csaki: As we dig into the new 1.6 update's juicy list of additions and improvements, we've returned to some of our most-loved guides to bring you the most updated information possible. With new crops added to 1.6, we revisited our Greenhouse guide to make sure you're as well-informed as possible about the best layout, crops, and items for this useful building.
How To Unlock The Greenhouse
When you start your farm and begin to clear away the debris, you'll notice some old ruins where a building once was. This is all that remains of the Greenhouse.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to restore the Greenhouse like you did your Grandfather's old house. You won't find a Greenhouse upgrade in Robin's shop.
Instead, you will need to either complete Community Center bundles or pay for Joja Mart to restore the Greenhouse for you.
If you're restoring the Community Center by giving your items to the Junimos, you'll need to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:complete all the bundles in the Pantꦜry. Once that's 🔴donꦇe, the Junimos will come overnight to rebuild the Greenhouse.
If you've replaced the Community Center with a Joja Warehouse, you'll need to pay Joja and Morris 35,000g for the Greenhouse option on the Joja Community Development Project. At that point, a Joja crew will rebuild it for🤡 you.
Size Of The Greenhouse And Other Basic Info
The Greenhouse building takes up a 7x6 space on your farm, which may seem like a lot of wasted crop space if you're just starting out, but it's worth it in the end. The Greenhouse is effectively the Tardis of Stardew Valley - bigger inside than out. Inside your brand-new Greenhouse, there's a 10x12 farmable plot of land to use.
If you don't like where the Greenhouse naturally exists on your farm, Robin will be able to move it for you once it's fully built. Talk to Robin when she's attending the desk at the Carpenter's Shop, and move the Greenhouse like yo✱u would any 💃other building.
Ther♊e are some things to keep in mind about a💮ny plants you grow here:
- Rain doesn't water them
- You don't need to protect them
- They will never be hit by lightning
- Crops from any season can grow here at any time, simultaneously
There's also a trough of water on the northern wall of the Greenhouse 🉐where you can refill a watering c🅰an.
What Can You Grow In The Greenhouse?
All crops can grow inside a greenhouse, and🌺 plants from different seaso🌟ns will grow alongside one another just fine.
Keep in mind that won't produce if they're in the Greenhouse, and Giant Crops won't grow inside.
Fruit Trees
Fruit Trees grow perfectly well inside your Greenhouse. They can grow on normal farmable land, but they can also grow on the tiled portion of the Greenhouse's ♊edges, where norma𝔉l crops cannot take root.
To make sure your Fruit Trees grow, be sure not to place any decorations or paths where you want them to grow. You also need to space the trees at least two spaces apart from each other so that each tree sits in the center of its own 3x3 square of land.
The decorations that come with the Greenhouse along the walls of the building don't stop tree growth.
Thankfully, since you can't interact with them, the tree registers that space as empty and grows anyway.
Once the tree is fully grown, you will be able to place decorations and paths around it. The only place Fruit Trees cannot be planted is in each of the Greenhouse's corners.
Regular trees like Oak, Maple, and Pine can also be planted inside of the Greenhouse. However, we don't recommend planting tappable trees inside of the greenhouse, as you can harvest from tapped trees at any point in the year.
Non-Crop Items
As touched on briefly above, you will be able to place decorations within your Greenhouse in the same w💃ay as placing them outside on your farm or inside your hou♛se.
You are also able to place , Signs, Torches, , and Artisan Machines within the Greenhouse's walls.
We recommend keeping at least one Chest of seeds and fertilizer in your Greenhouse so that you are always able to replenish harvested crops or change the current layout. It's also a good idea to keep at least one Seed Maker inside, as yo🐼u'll be able to drop fཧinished or surplus crops into the Seed Maker and get more seeds to replant.
Consid🐎er placi✤ng a in your Greenhouse to make shipping crops easier.
For rare crops like - the seeds of which are difficult to obtain - using a Seed Maker is a great way to increase the amount of Ancient Fruits you can grow within the Greenhouse. Seed Makers will give you more than one seed per item processed.
You may also consider storing a few artisan machines in the Greenhouse to save you some time as you process crops. However, as previously stated, Bee Houses will not function in the Greenhouse. Similarly, will also not function, as Casks are only usable when placed in the Cellar of your Upgrad🍷ed 💝House.

Best Layout For Fruit Trees In Your Greenhouse
The maximum number of trees you can grow inside the Greenhouse is 18.
There are several possible layouts to achieve this. One of the easiest tree setups is to plant them around the edge of the Greenhouse, with two spaces between each tree.
There will be three spaces between the trees 🐎on either side of the entrance.
If you're using a Sprinkler layout where some of the Sprinklers are outside the plot of growing land, you may need to move them until the tree has fully matured. Fruit Trees cannot grow if there is an object placed too close to its trunk. Make sure you have at least one space between any Sprinkler and any growing tree.
Recommended Crops For Your Greenhouse
It's all too eas🃏y to get precious about the limited amount of space in your Greenhouse, and decision paralysis can hit hard when determining what to plant in your new climate-controlled space.
The good news is that your Greenhouse isn't going anywhere, and you don't need to worry about seasonal timing constraints. As long as you have seeds to spare, you can change up your Greenhouse layout as much as you want.
If you'r🀅e still struggling to decide what to plant in your new space, consider the folꦛlowing suggestions:
- - Wheat is always in demand when you have animals on your farm, especially during the wintertime. If you don't want to spend bushels of money on hay from Marnie's shop, consider planting wheat in your Greenhouse.
- Multi-Harvest Crops - , , and are just a few of the crops that keep on giving. If you want your Greenhouse to yield consistently, plant crops that you know will regrow every few days between harvests.
- - Ancient Fruit, like Grapes, will continue to produce fruit after it is planted, and given its high sale price, it's a worthwhile investment in Greenhouse space. You might even place in your Greenhouse and make Ancient Fruit Wine while you're at it.
- - Bought from the Traveling Cart, Rare Seeds can be planted to yield a single . Rare Seeds can only be planted in the fall and take almost an entire season to grow, so if you want to maximize your efforts, you should plant your Rare Seeds in the Greenhouse.
- - Like Grapes and Hops, Coffee Beans are a replenishing crop that can be used in a keg to create a high-value product. Coffee plants also yield more than one Coffee Bean per harvest, so it's a great choice for your Greenhouse.
