I’m not a horror fan. Whether that’s films or video games, spooky stuff makes my throat contract. To give you an idea of just how much I hate horror, I got too scared to play 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Assassin’s Creed 2 on my own when I was a kid. I had to ask my sister (she is younger than me) to come and sit next to me while I played. I’ve never played Resident Evil, I’ve never seen The Shining or the Exorcist, and I usually wouldn’t step foot near a game like Sons Of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Forest.🐭 Cannibals? Weird, three-legged women who sneak up on you in the middle of the night? No thanks. And yet, here I am, almost five hours into the game, and loving it.

Sons Of The Forest is the sequel to The Forest, the wildly successful survival horror game from Endnight Games. No surprises here, but I never played The Forest. So why, you ask, did you buy Sons Of ♌The Forest? The direct sequel, with its equally horrifying experience? Partly because it looked so beautiful, and the survival aspects looked so excellent, but mostly because everyone else is playing it, and it’s my job to follow trends around like a hungry cannibal in the woods. I am so glad I did. It might revolutionize how I feel about an entire genre.

When you spawn, you’ll help out one of your pals from the crashed helicopter - Kelvin. Oh, sweet Kelvin. He’s your𒈔 new companion. He can be sent out to fish, cut down trees, build fires, and do all sorts of other menial tasks. Kelvin never bats an eyelid. He never says anything at all. In fact, he’s so silent and creepy and weird that he might just be the scariest thing in the whole game so far. But he’s there to help you out - for now. I just have no idea where the game is going to go. The idea of a Kelvin betrayal is totally not off the cards.

But Sons is not just a horror game, although it does that part with refined aplomb. It’s also one of the best survival games I’ve ever played. The building mechanics are mind-blowing. You cut down every single tree, carry those logs, two at a time, over to where you want to build a base, lay the foundations, cut the planks, cut the windows out, the doors - this is like building a house in real-time and it’ll probably take you as long. Food is scarce, but there is plenty to eat if you can hunt - deer, fish, birds. Nighttime is a horrorscape and best ignored, unless you absolutely❀ can’t sleep because there are six cannibals just on the other side of your palisade.

The cannibals, oh man, the cannibals. These guys are total freaks. They can climb trees, screech like monkeys, and have the disturbing habit of creeping up on you and peeking at you from behind rocks. Most of them can be scared off if you charge right at them, but sometimes they group up into packs and become more brave. You’ll need to fight them off, and eventually build sophisticated, multi-level trap sওystem🀅s to literally kill hundreds of them.

While you’re happily chopping down trees to work on your new home, you might notice a strange three-legged, three-armed woman approach you out of the woods like some kind of horrific fairy. She means no harm - to൲ be honest, I have no clue who she is. But she doesn’t want to kill me, and she almost seems to glow in the nighttime, so even though she’s f***ing creepy, it’s kind of comforting to see her occasionally. This will probably go horribly wrong, and it’ll turn out she’s the cannibal overlord.

Alongside the survival and the cannibals and the spooky caves, there’s also a story here that has just begun to unravel before me. I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this game has to offer, and 𝕴I am strictly avoiding all spoilers and videos about the game because I want to experience it myself.🍒 All on my own - just me, the cannibals, the three-legged lady, and Kelvin (oh, poor little Kelvin).
