168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sonic the Hedgehog 3 looks great. I’m blown away at how Paramount and Sega built such a beloved cinematic universe that has nothing but reverence for its source material. When the original cursed Sonic design was first revealed back 𒁃in 2019 I feared the worst, but listening to fans and going back to the drawing board saw director Jeff Fowler knock it out of the park.
After a solid second film, the third instalment is only a few months away and is going harder on the establis🥂hed lore than ever before. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 fl꧙irted with lore and wanted to expand on the universe in several ways by introducing Knuckles and Chaos Emeralds, but now we’re headed into darker, immensely more cursed territory. Yep, say hello to Shadow...
Fans Are Totally Going To Cheer When Maria Gets Shot
First teased at the end of the second film, Shadow the Hedgehog will be played by Keanu Reeves as the upcoming film aims to retell his origin story from Sonic Adventure 2. At first my expectation was for it to play fast and loose with the c🀅haracter, but judging by the new trailer, it’s going hard on the iconic Shadow and Maria storyline.
If you aren’t familiar with Maria, she is the cousin of Gerald Robotnik, a character who is also teased in the recent trailer. She’s living in a Guardian Units of Nations (GUN) facility in which she befriends Shadow as he is born and raised in captivity. The furry black and red creature was created to cause mass destruction, but through his friendship with Maria, he slowly but surely learns that her ultimate wish is to protect humankind, not destroy it. This is a message that echoes throughout Shadow’s mind as she is suddenly murdered by GUN while trying to help Shadow escape his imprisonment. Then amnesia kicks in and he interprets her dying wish as one of genocidal revenge. Cue the events of the game, and the 🍸upcoming movie.
We see Shadow and Mari🍎a bonding from the opposite sides of a glass cell, and Shadow holding her corpse in what appears to be the aftermath of a huge explosion. Given it’s a children’s film and shooting them is generally frowned upon, I wouldn’t be surprised if the circumstances of Maria’s death are altered somewhat so it’s a little less graphic. We are going to see her die though, and it’s bound to be the primary catalyst for Shadow’s bitter mission of revenge against Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the entire human race.
Maria’s Death Has Taken On A Life Of Its Own In Sonic Canon
It’s going to be tragic, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Shadow’s entire redemption arc comes full circle before the final act so he can take on Robotnik with Sonic by his side. It’s a pitch perfect ending, and one that will likely open up the doors to adapt o꧑ther games and animals in future films. Give me Silver and Metal Sonic or give me death.
What I love is the cultural significance Maria’s death has taken in the community, to the point where fans were during the Sonic Symphony concerts last year. There is a beautiful dramatic irony to such a tragic moment taking place in a series that is otherwise all about cutesy talking animals thwarting an evil scientist with a giant, twirly moustache. Dead children don’t really fit in, but Sega decided to throw one in just to be ܫsafe.
It’s ridiculous, which in turn makes it hilarious. Yet Sonic fans new and old clearly ha🥀ve an emotional connection to these events and characters or they wouldn’t appear to watch a third film in what hasꦅ already become a hugely successful franchise. I personally hope she’s fleshed out a little bit more, or we learn more about Shadow’s friendship with Maria and how he forced him to become a homicidal rodent with a penchant for chaos emeralds.
Shadow and Maria are icons of the Sonic universe, and never in a million years did I expect to see their story recreated not just on the big screen, but as part 🐲of a film that many fans are already head over heels for despite it still being months away. What a world we live in.
