Skul: The Hero Slayer is a complex and meaty pixel art roguelike game that takes cues and inspirations from the likes of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dead Cells, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Hollow Knight, and even 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Binding of Isaac. In this game, you play as Skul, a quirky skeleton demon who stumbles across a witch who also happens to be a cat. This witch brings you back to her home castle and tasks you with destroying the petty humans that foil her plans. Skul: The Hero Slayer isn't a particularly deep game in terms of outward exposition or lore, however, the further you dig into each and every new run, you learn there is a delicate balance at play in this world where demons and humans somehow exist side by side. While all of this makes for a fun game, there are some things that simply don't make any sense. Beware of some spoilers ah🔯ead.
5 An✅ All-Powerful Witcಞh?
At the very start of the game our titular antihero, Skul, is awakened from the dead and dons a new skull in order to keep on living. Very quickly 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:he releases an all-powerful witch from a basic-looking wooden cage. This witch, who also happens to have the 🎃ability to tra🐟nsform into a cat, joins you until you make it back to the home castle.
One thing that absolutely makes no sense about the witch is how she has immense power to upgrade your character, lead a demon kingdom, and control elemental powers, yet can't even manage to break out of the wooden cage she found hersel𝐆f locked up in. This surely doesn't line up with the power she clearly has. At the very least, she could have transformed into the cat to slip through the bars.
4 🌠 Running Around Without A Head
The entiret𓆉y of Skul: The Hero Slayer's gameplay hinges on the ability for Skul to swap out his head at will. This definitely makes for intriguing and creative gameplay scenarios, however, something simply doesn't add up. How is it that Skul can just remove his head and put another one on in its place𝐆?
In terms of the fab⛎ric of the game world it makes sense given he is a demon and not "living" in the traditional sense. It's still completely🐻 bonkers that Skul can walk up to a brand new skull, seemingly belonging to someone or something else, and just pop it on his torso. Heck, he can even swap skulls in the middle of fighting without breaking a sweat. Something very strange must be going on.
3 The Humans Outnumb✨er The Demons
Skul is the antihero in this game despite being the central protagonist. Skul is a demon skeleton who is tasked to wipe out the humans that stand in his way per the orders of the witch. You only need to venture into the first world, the Deep Forest, to realize that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the humans easily outweigh the demons by sheer numbers.
While it's assumed Skul is now extremely powerful and can thus wipe out swaths of soldiers and other denizens, it stil𝔍l doesn't stand to reason that a dozen well-trained and fully stocked enemies can't take down the demons in their path. It surely makes for a great gameplay experience when you can cut through their numbers, however, it certainly doesn't make any sense.
2 Life On Repeat 🌺 🍸
By their🍃 nature, roguelikes have you repeat the same scenarios over and over again, albeit with randomly generated areas, enemies, and items. From a gameplay standpoint, this is fantastic, but from a world-building and logic standpoint, it does quite add up. How is it that Skul, the enemies he has vanquished, and the enormous bosses that stand in ꧃this path simply come back to life?
This is a logical plague in every roguelike but feels more enhanced in Skul: The Hero Slayer due to the staggering number of enemies you slice and dice your way through. Each time you die, you simply wake up back in the castle tower, ready to retread the same locations and defeat the same enemies. There has to be someone out there in this game world that can't get to grips with t🐟his madness.
1 Where Does The Respite Area𒈔 Exist? 🍰
At certain intervals during a given run, you will stumble across a glowing, ethereal door that leads to a respite area. This respite area is filled with shopkeepers, a healing station, a random skull station, and an exit door, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:along with some NPCs. These safe areas are wonderful to come across since it means you can use your collected gol🦋d or dark quartz to heal or gain new abilities.
This area seems to permeate time itself since it always exists for you, no matter what world you find yourself in. Does this spectral area come from a great beyond? The answers are really not clear at all but one thing is for sure, Skul is certainly grateful for the rest and recupe𒉰ration.
