One thing that made 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Silent Hill stand apart from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil at the time was the storytelling. Sure, Resident Evil had 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:some cool stories, but Silent Hill was on a whole other level with its Lynchian🧸 method of really challenging you to figure out the plot🦋.

These are t🐼he best games Konami has ever produced.

These were the days before YouTube, so you could only play the games or perhaps go to forums to unravel the story. The first four instalments are by far the best and tie in nearly perfectly with one another. The other games, however, still have neat stories to offer, even if they don't connect well with the rest of the series.

8 Silent Hill: Homecoming 🐟

A Dark Silent Hill Story

Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC

Homecoming's story is often criticized as being a clone of Silent Hill 2, but there's actually several elements that make it distinct from that title. Number one is the setting because Homecoming takes place largely in Shepherd's Glen, not Silent Hill.

The two cities' relationship with each other will be quite interesting as you play through it, and you'll discover some very disturbing details surrounding the core families in Shepherd's Glen. The protagonist, as well, has specific details that one of them, at least, you probably won't see coming. Homecoming also gets bonus points for the sheer 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:amount of bad endings you can get.

7 Silent Hill: Downꦑpour

The Fugitive One

Silent Hill Downpour: Murphy And An Abandoned Gas Station In Silent Hill

Release Year

Platforms

2012

Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

The beginning of Silent Hill: Downpour has to be one of the best openers of the franchise. Your first enemy is just a defenseless human that you seemingly beat to death. After that, the story's a rollercoaster, literally in one case. The side characters in Downpour are a bit more well-developed than some of the other entries, and one of them even originates from a Silent Hill comic. That's a nice touch.

The one thing keeping Downpour low is the endings because they are way too complicated and off-the-wall, especially ending F. Even in a game that got poor reception, Downpour's story was one of the universal positive elements spoken about in reviews, and that's commendable.

A Mythical Game

PlayStation 4

There are two short-form Silent Hill titles released as free downloads, and it's a no-brainer that P.T. comes out on top. Even though The Short Message has more material in its story, P.T. seemed like an urban legend or dark creepypasta that gave you the deepest of shivers. Pretty early on, a radio will talk about a family murder in graphic detail.

We wish we could play these titles one more time.

The broadcast and the following disturbing visuals you'll see throughout P.T. work so well due to their subtlety. The fact you don't see the explicit acts makes it way scarier because all of it remains in your head. That's classic Silent Hill in a way not seen since the original titles.

5 🅘 Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Until Dawn Was Clearly Taking Notes From This Game

Silent Hill Shattered Memories: Harry Mason Recoiling From Monsters In The Dark

2009

Wii, PlayStation 2, PSP

One of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the best horror games on the Wii has to be Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. It was touted as a reimagining of SH1, not a remake. This is because Shattered Memories takes the initial premise and characters of SH1 to create an entirely new story. Hardcore fans didn't like this, and Shattered Memories is usually regarded as non-canon with the rest of the series.

However, on its own, Shattered Memories has a fantastic story with great voice acting to boot. The multiple endings are really well done, and the therapist sections are so good that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Until Dawn carried over the same mechanic. There's replay value to the story as well, with multiple changes depending on your choices.

After Silent Hill 3 was seemingly the end of the series, rapping up the cult lore, SH4 did something really smart. Building on information discovered in SH2 and SH3, SH4 revolves around Walter Sullivan. A cult member with a fascinating history, SH4 uses Walter as ꦏthe string toไ tie in all the side characters, locations, and monsters.

The plot develops in an engaging, page-turner way that'll keep you playing to find out what's going on in this apartment building. The lore is so engrossing here, but unfortunately, some of it wasn't put in the game and instead put on the now-defunct Japanese SH4 website. That's a bit unfortunate, but besides that, SH4 delivers a phenomenal story.

The original Silent Hill game has an amazing story. Influenced by the works of Stephen King and David Lynch, SH1 tells the story of Harry Mason, who searches for his missing daughter Cheryl in Silent Hill. SH1 is effectively the series' origin story as it steps up the town, cult, and everything that makes Silent Hill what it is.

Developer(s)

Platform(s)
PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360

A direct sequel to Silent Hill 1, SH3's the best sequel you could ask for. You play as Heather Mason, daughter of Harry from the first game. Set 17 years after SH1, Heather goes through nightmarish scenarios that oddly seem somewhat familiar to her. SH3 feels even more influenced by Stephen King, particularly It with the time jump.

The side characters here are the best in the franchise. Whether it's Douglas, Vincent, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:or the incredible villain, Claudia, everyone plays a key role. The climax of SH3 makes it go full circle, tying everything back to SH1 and even remaking s🍃everal rooms from that old PS1 game with PS2 visuals. It all ends with ꦯa satisfying conclusion that very well could have been the series finale.

There's a reason why Silent Hill 2 is so 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:acclaimed among video game stories: it's delivered about as perfectly as you could get. The symbolism and foreshadowing remain some of the greatest of all time. The cutscenes are so well done and given at just the right moments. The voice acting here's one of a kind and will likely never be duplicated.

You just can't find many faults in SH2's story. There's even added details included about the town that contribute significantly to the overall lore. SH2 is an absolute masterpiece worth playing several times to figure out all the juicy details hidden in plain sight.
