While this guide is primarily focused on your final encount🙈er with Mary/Maria, we'll also cover the encounter ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚwith the pair of Pyramid Heads you'll fight just before her. We'll then break down all three phases of the boss fight with Mary. This guide will help you put the nightmare behind you, and finally lay Mary to rest once and for all.

Boss Battle: The Pair Of Pyramid Heads

Silent Hill 2. The pair of pyramid heads.

While fighting two Pyramid Heads at the same time may sound like a pretty grueling boss ba🎶ttle, the truth is that the pair of Pyramid Heads are re⛎ally quite easily beaten if you stay calm and collected. For starters, they only really have three attacks:

  • They can lunge forward with a thrusting attack.
  • They can plunge their spear downward at you, stabbing it into the ground if they miss.
  • They can throw their spear like a javelin at you.
Silent Hill 2. Clustering the Pyramid Heads together.

All of these attacks are pretty easily beaten by you dodging to the side. When you do so, you will completely avoid their attacks. The most important thing is to keep your eyes on them at all times and to keep them clustered together.🌳 This way, you will have both of them in view at all times, and can easily dodge their strikes.

Now, more than anything, make sure you fight them using your handgun. You will want to save your more powerful weapons for the boss that comes after them. It doesn't matter which of the two you s🌌hoot, as they share the same health pool. Just fire off shots at their chest, while backing away from them, and dodging their strikes every time they get close to you. You take them down in no time. After defeating them, head toward the door, and when outside, gather all the ammo on the ground for the fight that is about to begin...

Boss Battle: Mary's First Phase

Fundamentally, Mary feels like an enhanced version of the Flesh Lips boss that you encountered in the Brookhaven Hospital so long ago. She will start the battle hovering above the ground. When you are at a distance from her, she'll send a swarm of moths after you. They tend to circle around you before attacking you from behind. While you can dodge through them, it is better to just dissipate them. One swing of your pipe will scatter them.

Mary will disappear into a swarm of moths, before appearing somewhere else in the𓆏 boss arena. You will be able to get an idea of where she'll reform, as the swarm will move in the direction that she will appear.

Additionally, you will be able to hear where she is going to appear if you have headphones on or ha𒁏ve a surround sound system.

When Mary is in the process of appearing in the distance, aim a hair under her head, as when she appears she drops down a little; so, if you are aiming under her head, then she will lower down into you💦r crosshairs. Once she has fully appeared, fire off a shot or two. She tends to summon a swarm of moths when she does, which will lock her down for a period of time.

Silent Hill 2. Swapping to the shotgun.

When Mary attacks she will either send a steel tendril directly at you. If it is a straight, piercing attack, then you only need to dodge to the side. However, if she takes a wide, horizontal swipe at you, then she will always follow up with a second swipe, so prepare to dodge a second time. When Mary gets close, swap out your rifle for your shotgun. Then, when she gets some distance, swap it back out for your rifle. Mary's first form will be finished after about ten or so shot🐎gun/rifle shots.

Mary's Second Phase

In her second phase, James will fall through the ground and into a dark room below, where, like the Flesh Lips before her, Mary will run around above you before dropping down and attacking you. There are Shotgun Shells and a Syringe lining the wall, so make sure to gr🍎ab th🥃ose. The moth swarm will also still be present.

However, they are just as easily killed.

If you keep an eye on the sparks above, they are a pretty good indication of where Mary will attack you from. Use the shotgun while you are fꦇighting the second form, as Mary will frequently be♒ in close proximity to you. Once she drops down, pump some shells into her. Before, of course, she hops back up into the ceiling.

Since ൩this arena isn't just an open space, it is pretty easy to turn a corner from Mary and get a heal in, so even 🃏if you get a little sloppy you have options.

Mary's Third Phase

Silent Hill 2. Shooting Mary in her final form with a rifle.

In her final form, Mary will be far more mobile and aggressive. She now has the ability to lunge at you, and with this attack, she’ll be able to close an incredible amount of distance. Like with the first phase, we'll be fighting her with the Rifle when she is at a distance, and with the shotgun when she is up close.

She’ll still disappear and reappear. However, now when she reappears, she’ll be on the ground instead of hovering above it. When she summons her swarm of moths, she’ll bend over, so if you are aiming at her head, your shot will miss. So, instead, aim at her waist as she is appearing. You should be able to get off a few shots before she starts rushing forward.

It is pretty important that you do your healing when she is teleporting. In the other phases, you can get a quick heal in as long as she isn't in front of you, but here she can cover too much ground too🐎 quickly for that to be a safe option.

Silent Hill 2. Mary screaming, causing everything to go purple.

When Mary uses the attack where she stomps forward, she will plunge her blades into the ground at least twice as she progresses forward. Your best bet is to circle her. Like in her first form, when she attacks with a wid🌞e, horizontal swipe, she’ll always follow it up with ♓a second attack. The only difference is that her attacks have considerably more range here.

Mary will let out a roar that will stun you occasionally. When this happens the entire screen will go purple. This isn't so much an attack as it is an indication of how much damage you have done to her. Once she has roared three🍌 times, you kno෴w you are close to putting her down once and for all.
