Frenzied fists of fury fly fast in Sifu, and though it constantly creates chaotic scenes soaked in visceral violen♊ce, testing your aptitude for its killer kung fu combat, there is a pretty deep story tucked away behind the set pieces and stylish scene transitions.

There is more than one ending to unlock and there are some interesting ways you can interpret them depending on how philosophical you can be. For those interested in putting together the big picture of the game, here’s everything you needꦍ to know about the endings to Sifu, and what they could mean.

Updated March 18, 2024 By Matthew McKeown: Whilst the endings haven’t changed in Sifu, the game itself hasn’t been quiet at all, far from it really. At first, it was fine-tuning and balancing through patches regularly poured into the game and more recently it’s been new content and extra goodies.

For example, extra outfits to dress up your Kung-Fu Master in, new modifiers to keep each run fresh and weird, stylish and artsy, or just brutally challenging. A simple highscore system was added as well as cheats. A great game always worth getting back into, here’s a refresher for what happens at the ending of Sifu for those who may have missed it or it’s been too long.

How Many Endings Are There?

Before jumping straight into spoiler territory, for those that have 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:yet to beat the game, there are three endings in total that can be unlocked, and they’re fairly 𝓀simple to get. Although “simple” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, as it requires beating the story multiple times and the game it𝓀self is pretty challenging.

The endings intertwine a tale of ethics and morals that's not clear at first, but once you hit those end credits and have a bit of reflection it all starts to make sense. It’s more than a typical revenge tale as it first seems. Instead it’s one of redemption, forgiveness and morals. From here on out, it’s Sifu spoiler territory, so last chance to turn ba𒁏ck for those that don’t want to know the endings. For anyone remaining here’s how you can get your hands🍌 on the different cutscenes at the end of the game.

Sifu Spoilers

Kill Yang

This is the default ending of the game and the main quest hovering over your head throughout your constant battles with gang members to get to the top of the rotten pyramid. Killing Yang and getting revenge for your master may seem like the right thing to do, but it’s actually Sifu's bad ending, and it catches out a lot of people. After taking down Yang, the game shꦇifts to a scene of a much younger-looking protagonist standing in a misty red room next to two gravestones.

As they approach them, voices can be heard arguing with our character's former master. Whether it’s us or Yang is up to interpretation, but it’s implied to be Yang as they tell their Sifu that they stole their magic talisman to protect someone, though we never find out who. Their teacher then declares to their student that their oath has been broken and the story is kind of left to your own understanding from there.

Though you can call the revenge tale complete, the underlying implication is one of failure as we used our 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kung Fu skills to kill when they’re primarily for defense. Going on a bloody rampage was something our protagonist's teacher wouldn't have wanted for them.

Not taking the perceived moral high ground of thei🥂r master implies that the student has failed in what their future was supposed to be, creating a parallel with ꦚYang that shows our character as being just the same as the "Fallen Student" we hunted for so long.

Also, when Yang is defeated the screen fades to white as we're introduced to the concept of Wude, a martial arts doctrine that describes that for true practitioners of Kung Fu, a battle is not just a sole test of strength, but one of ideals and morals between combatants.

In this case, for our protagonist's Master, the idea of killing, even in the direst of circumstances, is something that strays from the moral path of Wude.

This explains why the violent revenge path is shown as a "failure". It’s an ending that, no matter how you slice it, shows failure for everyone all across the board. Yang failed in his criminal endeavors, our hero failed his teacher, and the master lost his vision for his student.

Spare Yang

The other option on the cards is one you'll need to start working towards extremely early in the game, like first-boss early. To unlock the other ending involves sparing every boss you come across in what becomes a tale of forgiveness instead of revenge. Not striking the final blow may not feel as satisfying and parrying to break down your opponent's bar might be a bit more frustrating to do.

Especially after some of the more taxing fights, but doing so gets you the true or "good" end to Sifu. Plus, each one has a nice alternate cutscene to the fight as an extra reward for going full Paragon inඣ y🐠our playthrough.

After the final showdown with Yang our hero will awaken in the gravestone room again, but this time without the very distinct red light. A lazy sunbeam illuminates what's set to be the penultimate throwdown as Yang appears once more. This time there are no health bars, and no matter how well you counter those hits the screen eventually gets that red light again before a cutscene triggers.

Our protagonist seems to come to an internal conclusion, Fully embracing the ideals of Wude 🐭allows Yang to strike the final finishing blow on him.

Our character then dies, accepting that the only true moral outcome of the fight was to die instead of taking the life of someone that refuses to stop until they themselves are killed. But it's not all bad for our hero as the screen fades outl; it's shown that he's seemingly in a blissful afterlife.

Climbing a mountaintop whilst a serene landscape stretches into the horizon as if following his path of Wude to its end helped our protagonist ascend to a new plane of tranquility. It's an interesting way to cap off the story, but the tale is not finished yet..

Secret Ending

There's one final ending to unlock and it will probably take a few playthroughs to get it as it requires collecting all the individual components of the lost magic talisman, which you can get by sparing every 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:boss in the game, including Yang. The Talismans in question are Earth, Water, Fire, Wood, and Metal. If these are in your inventory before that final Yang showdown there'll be a short mid-credits scene that ties the story off with a nice bow.

The credits roll is briefly interrupted and we're shown a man in robes, implied to be Yang, sitting at a desk in the protagonist's old Dojo. A student approaches, yelling out for their Sifu, the man in the chair, before leaving as the person in the seat follows, the magical talisman restored and left lying on the desk.

It's inferred heavily that this is supposed to be Yang, reformed, redeemed, and now following the path of his old Sifu. The student is supposed to be a new prodigy following the path of Wude as his predecessors once did. It works well with the forgiveness route and it's a much more positive end to the story than the hollow victory of vengeance.

Which Is The Correct Ending?

Like any game with multiple endings, there's naturally going to be a debate drawn to it around which one is the correct one. With Sifu, it's a little easier to point the crowd in the relative right direction. Though the main concept of the story is one of vengeance, a fact that's regularly drilled into us with every failed attempt, every 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:age milestone hit, and the repetition of combat creating a Pavlovian reward for🍃 every brutal beatdow💯n we dole out.

The end result to following the path of violence creates a bit of a depressing end to our tale, subtly telling us of the breach of morality our actions had.

The path of forgiveness is one that's less cathartic, but ultimately rewarding. It feels like a commentary on how taking the morally high path is often much harder and seemingly less rewarding but ultimately the right one as our actions can inspire others.

The message of revenge and second chances is one that's often used in media and whilst a subversion of expectations can be hit-and-miss depending on the subject matter. Following the path of peace works in this instance to create a satisfying if melancholic ending to a genuinely absorbing classic Kung Fu tale.
