The entire 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Shin Megami Tensei franchise, Persona games included, has assembled quite an impressive menagerie of demons and demon-adjacents over the years. From the folklore characters of our childhoods to our strangest fantasies made manifest, no matter what you're looking for, these games have 'em in spades.
For whatever reason, there are definitely certain enemies that stand out more to us than others. Maybe they have unusual abilities, maybe they have distinctive appearances, maybe they're fun to fight, or maybe they just make you laugh. Whatever the reason, these are the SMT and Persona enemies that we're most fond of.
10 ♔ Pixie - A Rite of Passage
In both Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games, the moment you encounter a Pixie is often the moment when the game is really taking off. From the Pixie you recruit in 🌊Nocturne to the first Pixie you negotiate with in Persona 5, whenever that little flying lady shows up, things are finally kicking into gear.
While Pixie's most iconic look is the blue leotard, she's taken on all sorts of appearances as one of the most recurring demons of the MegaTen franchise, from ritualistic garbs to bright, flowing dresses. The appearances of Pixies are almost as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:varied as their appearances in real mythology!
9 𓄧 Wheel Shadows - All Aboard The Lion Wheel
You ever see a really big car, look down at one of its tires, and think "yep, that'd probably kill me if it ran me over?" That's kind of what it's like fighting a Wheel Shadow in the Persona games, except in addition to the giant wheel, there are also spikes and a huge snarling lion head.
Facing down a regular gigantic lion wheel is already pretty intimidating, but just wait until you meet the Brave Wheel and its perpetually-blazing mane. You thought the potential of getting run over by a living monster truck was bad enough; try getting run over by a monster truck on fire.
8 Decarabia - One Sassy Starfish 💧 𒅌
Decarabia is one of the demons of the Ars Goetia. Apparently, he's a Great Marquis of Hell and has thirty legions of demon soldiers at his beck and call. You definitely wouldn't think it, considering he's just a starfish with an eyeball, but that's what Decarabia has that other demons don't: gumption.
Despite his simple design, Decarabia is often a late-game demon or shadow, packing mid-tier spells and an affinity for Almighty magic. It just goes to show that even if you're a one-eyed starfish, you can still be one of the baddest dudes around if you want it enough.
7 Knight Shadows - Everything's Better With Flying Horses
Just about anyone who's ever played through Persona 4 probably has some less-than-kind things to say about the Avenger Knight. He was a sub-boss 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in Yukiko's Castle and a real wake-up call for anyone slacking off on their Persona fusions. Still, hard as he was, we can't help but respect both his acumen and his design.
The Knight Shadows cut a regal silhouette with their giant lances and gleaming black armor, topped off with a distinctive Emperor Arcana mask. That's not even mentioning their flying metal horse mounts, the very concept of which is just kind of cool by default.
6 Ara Mitama - The World's Angriest Droplet
Another recurring face in the MegaTen franchise, the four Mitamas are either powerful spellcasters or elusive distributors of rare items, depending on the game you're playing. In either case, though, they're always a welcome sight.
So why are we highlighting Ara Mitama in particular? Simple: he's funny-looking. The other Mitamas have fairly happy, placid expressions on their faces, while Ara's is frozen in a state of perpetual screaming rage. Imagine being confronted by a little red drop thing that's angry out of its mind all the time. What can you do but laugh?
5 Turret Shadows - The Sea Of The Soul Is Packing Heat 🦩
The forms of Shadows in Persona 3 and 4 are informed by a combination of their respective Arcanas and images pulled from the Sea of the Soul (i.e. humanity's collective unconscious). The inspiration for the Turret Shadows is pretty cut and dry: they're of the Chariot Arcana, and what better means of conveyance than armored transport?
You don't really expect to come face to face with the barrel of a tank in a game where magic is the consistent theme, but perhaps that hint of anachronism is part of Persona's appeal, and the Turrets exemplify that notion.
4 Mothman - The S🐲ecret Mascot
If Jack Frost is the official mascot of the MegaTen franchise, Mothman is the unofficial one. The constant look of dull surprise upon his blue, furry face is a constant delight, whether you're playing a Shin Megami Tensei game or a Persona game.
Mothman's always been pretty popular, regularly placing in MegaTen popularity contests, though after Futaba Sakura's voice actress, Erica Lindbeck, expressed her affinity for him on Twitter, that cemented him as one of the all-time greats.
3 Machine Shado🍸w𝐆s - We Dig Giant Robots
Perhaps this is a niche appeal, but who cares: everything is better with giant robots, Persona included. The Machine species of Shadow understand this, which is why they take forms reminiscent of some of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:all-time robotic classics like Mazinger, Gundam, Transforme🅘rs, and the various Sentai mechas.
The Escapist Soldier bonus boss in Persona 4's Void Quest is particularly noteworthy, both for its awesome, flashy design and for being an absolute skull-buster of a battle. It's kind of ironic how powerful this thing is, considering how ineffectual Mitsuo's Shadow was.
2 🔯 Jack Frost - Hee-Hoobviously
It's not a Shin Megami Tensei game without at least one appearance by Jack Frost. Seriously, in some of his most recent appearances, he's bragged about how popular he is and how much his merch goes for online. This little snowman is getting a bit of a swollen head, but we can't say he didn't earn it.
Jack Frost has been a mainstay of the franchise even before it was called Shin Megami Tensei, first appearing in plain ol' Megami Tensei II. Though, back then, he had a more typical Frosty the Snowman-style getup with a scarf and galoshes, only adopting his signature blue hat and boots in the first Shin Megami Tensei.
1 Gigas Shadows - Literally Just Hulk Hogan 🍷
Everyone who has ever played through Persona 4 and has even a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:♊passing knowledge of professional wresꦯtling thought the exact same thing upon meeting the Daring Gigas: "Isn't that Hulk Hogan?" Whether the resemblance is intentional or not (though we cannot possibly believe it isn't), this species of Shadows bears an uncanny resemblance to one of history's greatest wrestlers.
From the wrestling shorts to the handlebar mustache, this thing is pretty much what you'd get if Hulk Hogan wore a skintight metal suit and half a face mask. Be honest, it wouldn't even be the weirdest gimmick you've ever seen in the WWE.
