The Hydra is the first boss of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Shin Megami Tensei 5 and can🅘 really put the hurt on unsuspecting players. This multi-♋headed menace is fought right outside Tokyo Tower and the game will warn you to save your game beforehand, so make sure you follow that advice.

Battle Preparations

The Hydra is weak to Ice and Light attacks, so make sure your main character and your demons can take advantage of that to get more turns. If you want to get Bufu onto your main character to take advantage of the Hydra’s weakness, you’ll have to use the Essence of either a Preta or an Azumi. Bot🗹h of these can be found in the areas prior to the battle.

The Hydra is a Fire-elemental demon that both uses Fire attacks and will block them entirely if you use them on it. Avoid using Agi and purchase some Fire Dampeners from the Cadaver’s Hollow before the fight. It is also possible to make your main character immune to Fire using a Daemon Essence at the World of Shadows - but you'll have to have learned the Divine Amalgamation Miracle beforehand.

The boss can also inflict poison - this is a nasty status effect in SMT 5, dealing a significant amount of damage every single turn. You'll want to have Amrita Sodas in your inventory and the Patra skill somewhere in your party to deal with it.

If you found the Aogami Type-1 Essence before the fight, giving its Aramasa and Rakunda skills to your main character is a good idea. The former is great when there are guaranteed criticals from Omogatoki, and the latter will hamper the Hydra's damage output.

Two excellent demons to have in your party are Mermaid and Angel.

  • Mermaid has a unique skill called Stormcaller Song that does between three and six Ice attacks. She also has Bufu, and an Ice Skill Potential of +3 to lower her MP costs. She also has Patra, which can be useful if you get poisoned.
    • Cheap fusion recipes for a Mermaid include Kodama + Preta, Pixie + Preta, and Pixie + Demon.
    • Your Nahobino must be at least level 12 to fuse a Mermaid.
  • Angel has Hama, which is a Light-elemental attack. Angel also has Humble Blessing which is likely your only source of party-wide healing at this point in the game - very useful for countering the Hydra’s big attacks.
    • Cheap fusion recipes for an Angel include Onmoraki + Kodama, Onmoraki + Mandrake, and Mandrake + Pixie.
    • Your Nahobino must be at least level 10 to fuse an Angel.

Hydra Battle Strategies

The Hydra seems to have a pretty simple combat rotation. It will usually just make simple physical attacks, but will occasionally spend a turn Gathering Magatsuhi. This ꦜmeans that it is preparing to use one of its 🎃nastier attacks.

  • The Hydra’s Fire Breath can deal a lot of damage and give it extra moves if any of your demons are weak to it. Try to prevent this from happening with Fire Dampeners. If your Nahobino blocks Fire damage, it will scrap the Hydra’s second turn, too.
  • It can also use Frenzy, which will deal physical damage to your entire party. If it has used Omogatoki beforehand that means four critical hits, which can be devastating.
  • Alternatively, it can use Toxic Breath which has a chance of inflicting poison. Heal this status as soon as you can because the damage will rack up very quickly.

Your strategy should be quite simple: exploit its weakneꦇsses while kee♍ping your health up.

  • Remember, the Hydra is weak to Ice and Light attacks. Use your best skills with these elements to get more turns.
    • Consider using physical attacks or cheaper skills with your extra turns in order to save MP. The Hydra has a lot of health.
  • If you have any Ice Gems, definitely use them here. They’ll deal a significant amount of damage.
  • It's worth reiterating that an Angel is perfect for this fight thanks to access to Hama and party-wide healing.
  • If you can get your own Magatsuhi skill off before a big round of attacks, even better.
  • While brute strength can feasibly work for this fight, don't neglect the existence of stat-altering skills. A skill like Neko Shogun's Rakunda or Obariyon's Sukunda would help a lot - the former decreases an enemy's defense while the latter will lower its accuracy.
  • Once you’re used to the rhythm of the battle, you simply need to keep the damage up and heal whenever you’re getting anywhere near low health. Try to keep your healers’ MP up - if you are using an Angel, don’t waste too much of their MP on Hama and save it specifically for Humble Blessing.
