Sailing the seas solo, you'll need to pay a lot of awareness to your surroundings. If you're attentive enough, you can see any pirate dangers coming from a mile away — which will give you enough time to prepare for battle and strategize how you're going to deal with it.
Whenever you sense danger around, keep your guard up and be ready for anything. Some people have a pirate code to not shoot first, but you can have your own code and shoot at absolutely everyone at sight. The first thing you need to determine is the ship size.
If you see a Sloop coming towards you, you're potentially up against another solo or duo. Three people if it's a Brigantine, and four if it's a Galleon. As a solo, you should never keep your anchor down. Instead, raise your sails all the w🦩ay up whenever you want to stop.
Once in a while, it's a good idea to aim your Cannon on the ship all the way up and shoot yourself out. This way, you can check out the surrounding from a high point a𒀰nd spot any sails near your ship.
How To Practice Shots
When you're in a battle, the most important thing is to hit your shots. You can have a million cannonballs and planks and lose the battle if your shots aren't on point. Cannon shots are one of the hardest things to learn in Sea Of Thieves, as they have a lot of variables.
After the removal of Arena, there's no proper way to get a PvP experience without putting a lot on the line. So, here is a little trick to practice your shots:
- The seas are filled with rocks, everywhere. The rocks that open a portal in the Pirates of the Caribbean tall tales are among the biggest.

You can also buy supply crates from the Merchant Alliance stationed at the dock, and you can load up your ship even more if you're a captain. 300 cannonballs, 150 planks, andಌ a ton of food would be a good place to stop looting barrels.

When you're a solo against a duo, trio, or squad, you will need all the help you can possibly get. You need to pay attention if you're to succeed, so here are a few tips to keep in mind.
Make Use Of Your Resources
Cannonballs and planks are the basic items that you definitely need to use in a battle. However, you need to make use of Chainshots, Blunderbombs, Firebombs, and Cursed Cannonballs as well. You can shoot down a ship's mast with a single Chainshot, unless it's another Sloop against you.

This will allow you to make a sharp turn, which cannot be replicated by your enemies unless they use a Harpoon as well — but they have a very small window to react to this.
Furthermore, if there's a fort near, you can pass it and bait the enemy to follow. Stay on the fort, letting your ship sail for a little while, and as soon as the enemy comes close, use the fort cannons to rain hell on them without ever putting your ship in danger.

Decision-Making
When you have to control an entire ship alone, you will be faced with many difficult choices. It is very important not to lose patience in these scenarios. Here, completely dedicating yourself to killing the enemy is not the right choice. You need to focus on keeping your ship afloat, and let the enemy come to you when you're ready to defeat them.
Similarly, you'll have to make decisions about when to stay on your ship and when to board your enemies' ship to put pressure on them. You also need to be aware of when to break off in a battle, and when you should keep applying pressure.
Advantages Of A Sloop
It is important to know your ship and how to maneuver it in battle. There are a few scenarios in which the Sloop shines, and you need to make sure you fight on your own terms.
- The Sloop is the only ship that doesn't lose its mast with one Chainshot. Other players need to hit your mast with two Chainshots or a Chainshot and a Cannonball to break it.
- The Sloop turns much more quickly than any other ship. This makes it easier to maneuver around bigger ships that can't turn as fast. Use this to get around to the weak spots of your enemy's ship.
How To Run Away From PvP
Just like every other ship, you can run away from battle if you want to. Sometimes, if you've spent hours doing a particular quest and earning the treasure, you just won't want to take any risk of losing it.
It's a little hard to run as a Sloop though, as there is only one scenario where you're faster than the other ships. If you're being chased, turn your ship in directly the opposite direction of the wind — this can be seen as white lines when you look up as you're on the ship.
Once you've done that, angle your sails directly to the front — this is called a headwind. In this scenario, the Sloop is the fastest, and no other ship can catch it. As you do this, you can jump off the back of your ship and board thܫe enemy, to try to anchor them and slow them down even further.
If you get near an Outpost, you can hand over your treasure to the Sovereigns at the dock and accept everything — they also provide you with the same amount of Gold. An important thing to note here is that the Sovereigns only deal with captains. So, you'll have to buy your own ship before you can do this.
