Roots of Pacha implements many different gameplay mechanics that help shape the game's identity. For instance, the game ditches traditional currency systems and instead implements the contribution mechanic. Contribution points are the game's way of showing how much you're contributing to your village.
Contribution points are earned each day by placing items into the contribution box. After going to bed, your total contribution is calculated based on what you contributed on that day. Every item varies in terms of how much contribution points they earn. We've lined up some of the best ways to get items worth hundreds of contribution.
Fishing
Fishing is arguably the best way to get contribution points in Roots of Pacha. Fishing should be done as much as possible during early game to accumulate enough prosperity to unloc🌳k more ideas.
The kind of fish you catch is dependent on several factors: time of day, season, tool, and weather. One of the best places to fish is the Savannah, since the most common fish are🔯 🧸still worth around 35 contribution points.
After receiving the harpoon upgrade for fishing, it's worth moving to the beach or the forest. The rare fish at the beach and forest are worth hundreds of contribution points each.
Before putting fish in the contribution box, you should always dry them first. Fish that are dried using a solar dryer are always worth more contribution. For example, a fatfish is worth 37 contribution while dried fatfish is worth 67 contribution. The solar dryer can be obtained after completing the Working Together quest from Tare.
While fishing, fish will display a segmented bar underneath them.
You should aim for fish with the bigger bar since these fish are often rare and worth more contribution.
Mining
While exploring the cave, you may come across rocks full of gems. These gems are used primarily to upgrade and craft accessories with Vuak's help.
While these accessories are nice to have and should be considered a priority from mid to late game, you won't need accessories in the beginning months.
Gems all earn 60 contribution each. Exploring the cave further also helps you discover the necessary materials for upgrading your tools. Even if you decide to use your gems for upgrades, your upgrไades can be used to make the grind for contribution easier.
Animal Produce
After taming an animal and inviting them to your village, animals will occasionally drop produce that you can earn contribution with.
The type of produce is dependent on the animal and their gender. For example, female ostriches drop eggs, while male ostriches drop feathers. Some animals, like the bunny, drop no produce.
Animals you tame typically have a low base production stat, meaning that they will drop animal produce rarely. To improve an animal's base produce, you have to breed your animals.
Animals can be bred after improving your friendship with the animal to six hearts. Repeat this process and breed together animals with high base produce stats until you breed an animal with max base produce.
The same two animals can only be bred together a maximum of three times.
Some produce can be processed further into items that obtain more contribution. Fur should always be put in a spindle whorl to create yarn for additional contribution. Ibex milk can be processed in a few different ways, but using the fermenter to create ibex milk sour cream is always a good choice.
Farming
Harvesting crops is easy to do, but takes time as crops need several days to grow. Crops make the most contribution points when processed into other items. Like fish, crops can also be dried for more contribution. However, crops are worth the most when pickled.
The pickler won't be unlocked until you complete the Vinegar Pickling side quest from Era. To unlock this quest, your village will need around 1,580,000 in village prosperity. You will also need to already have the fermenter and brewer.
The press, brewer, and fermenter should be used in the meantime to process🔯 your crops into items worth a lot of conꦆtribution.
The side quest to unlock the press will be unlocked after your village reaches 25,000 prosperity.
The Press side quest from Tare requires two tomatoes, 15 stone, and 25 wood to complete.
