Classes And Characters

Each character of a given lineage has access to all the skill levels and stats of their predecessor. When they gain levels, they then pass those on to their successor, and so on. This means that if a character dies from having their LP reduced to zero, you don't actually lose anything; a new character with identical capabilities will be waiting at the Pub upon your return.

For classes with two different characters - typically a male and a female version - each gender is tracked as a separate lineage. For example, the male Court Mage will pass on his training in Hydrology, while the female Cour🌌t Mage and her descendants specialize in Pyrology.

Some classes can be locked due to story events. When the event is resolved and the class becomes available again, its lineages will have all their powers intact. The only way to increase a lineage's power is to bring them into battle and have them use their Techs and Spells, though, so don't neglect anyone's training!

Tech And Spell Training

As the game progresses, you'll gain access to facilities that allow you to register learned Techs and Spells, lett♑ing any future characters learn them as long as they have the appropriate skill levels.

A power is registered if it has a green medal next to its name. Once registered, a Tech, Evasion, or ▨Spell remains available to learn for the rest of the game.

Characters can learn any Tech, Spell, or Evasion that they qualify for based on their training skills, and can freely swap them out any time you're in Avalon. There's even an Auto🍸-Learn function that selects a setup for a character's current gea꧑r.

If a character dies in battle, their replacement automatically equips all the powers that their fallen predecessor had. Characters who start a new generation after a time skip don't start with powers equipped, so always visit the Training Hall and Incantations Lab before setting off for a dungeon.

The Emperor

The Emperor of Avalon is always the leader of your party and can never be removed from your lineup. Leon and Gerard are the first two playable Emperors, but after them you'll select a new Emperor from among the available retinue members each time the throne is vacant.

The Emperor keeps all of their abilities from their original class, plus everything they inherit from Leon, Gerard, and every other Emperor to that point. This makes them the most versatile and powerful character in the game.

Despite having a wide variety of skills, the Emperor will still be limited by their stats - an Emperor with low Strength won't be able to make good use of a sword, even if their skill is high! Keep that in mind when choosing a success🍰or.

What Happens If The Emperor Dies?

If your party is wiped out during a combat encounter, all five of them, including the Emperor, die and are replaced by a successor. This means you'll need to choose a new Emperor immediately, and w🎃ill be forced 🍰to respawn at the Avalon Castle Throne Room.

If the Emperor dies from reaching zero LP, the surviving party members will live to fight another day, but the battle will immediately end in defeat. You'll have to pick a new Emperor and return to the Throne Room, just as🥀 if your team had been wiped.
