Gerard will have gained all of Leon's powers, including the ability to cast light magic. If you haven't already done so, speak to the Court Mages in the castle and they'll teach him Fireball as well. It's a good idea to train Gerard with Light Magic until he learns Moonlight so that you can have an extra healing spell ready during the battle🍒.

Aries is practically a must, as you'll need him casting Life Water nearly every turn to mitigate the damage the Kzinssie deals. He's not bad with a mace either, especially if you tr🦩ain him a bit, but that's strict𒀰ly secondary.

Bear should stay in his frontline tank role. Equip him with a mace if one is available, as this will give him some extra damage potential against Kzinssie's sword arm, but make sure to keep a Sword equipped in Bear's main slot. Bear's most essential Tech in this fight is Parry.

Your last two slots, taking up both sides of the Imperial Cross formation, should go to characters proficient with Bows. Therese, Henry, and Andromache all fit the bill. Whomever you choose, the most important thing is to ensure that both of them know Rapid Volley before you attempt to face Kzinssie.

Strategy For Beating Kzinssie

In the early stages of the fight, Kzinssie is a fairly standard boss encounter. Pay attention to his Command Icon at the top of the screen:

• If it doesn't have a Warning symbol, he's readying Stun Slash. This will usually target Bear since he's in the front, so Parry to block it.
• If it does have a Warning symbol, he's readying Cyclone. This will hit all three characters in the center row; have them all Defend rather than attacking that round.

Kzinssie is weak against Greatswords, Bows, Fire, and Light; hit him with single-target attacks that have high Potency and don't be afraid to spend BP early.

Arm Attacks

As the fight progresses, Kzinssie will bring his arms into play ඣas separate targets; first his Right Arm, which carries his sword, then his Left Arm, which prepares a devastating magical attack.

While the arms are charging, use Rapid Volley and Light Ball to hit them and Kzinssie's main body simultaneously, building up to a Unified Attack to destroy the arms as quickly as possible.

Kzinssie's arms, unlike his body, are weak against Swords and Maces, but are just as vulnerable to Bows and Light.

The boss's attack pattern changes while his arms are active; you need to neutralize them to avoid taking lethal damage.

• The Sword Arm's regular attack is Hard Slash, which deals heavy damage. Like Stun Slash, have Bear attempt to Parry it.
• The Sword Arm's more dangerous attack is Ill Storm, which inflicts Poison on the entire party. While it's possible that Aries will have learned Physic Water, you're better off using Balm to cure Poison as it includes a minor heal.
• The Left Arm charges for several rounds, but if it's allowed to cast Shadow Nova it will deal enough damage to kill your entire party. Always make the Left Arm a priority target.

By ensuring that you use Rapid Volley and Light Ball to keep damaging Kzinssie while you deal with his arms, you can keep the momentum of the fight under control and come out on top.
