Riftbound_Origins_KV_Logo

Riftbound’s base set, Origins, will launch in China this August before releasing globally in October 2025. Forꩵ at least the first set, the game will only be localized in Chinese and English. Riot intends to synchronize the Chinese and global releases as soon as possible, so it will be slowing down future Chinese releases until the worldwide releases catch up.

Starting with set 2, there will be a release promo pack available at launch. This pack includes an epic rarity champion unit (Jynx, Victor, or Lee Sin), and one of 12 possible champion legend cards. Starting with set 2, local game stores will be hosting pre-release 🐎events. Participants will receive one pre-constructed champion deck (which includes one booster pack), an additional booster pack, and one release promo pack.

If you can’t wait until August to get your hands on Riftbound, some local game stores w꧅ill have trial decks available to play with in-store starting today. There are four different trial decks: Volibear, Jynx, Viktor, and Yasuo.

Products And Prices

Riftbound Proving Grounds

Riftbound Origins booster boxes will contain 24 packs, priced at $4.99/pack. Individual sleeved 🥂booster packs will be carried by major retailers.

Champion decks contain a pre-constr💝ucted deck designed to be upgradeable, as well as a tuck box, paper playmat, a learn to play booklet, and one booster pack. The MSRP for champion decks is $19.99. There will be three champion decks for Origins: Jinx, Victor, and Lee Sin. With these three decks, you’ll have every rune type you’d need to build anꦰy deck.

Riot is releasing a board game-like experience for Riftbound called Proving Grounds. This learn-to-play box includes simplified decks that are balanced against each other, meaning their cards aren’t meant to beꦛ used in constructed play. Proving Grounds includes four full-art playmats, a lea🦩rn-to-play guide, oversized battlefields, and reversible champion chibi-style acrylics, all in a hard case board game box for $29.99.

Information🐲 on accessories 🗹like play mats, sleeves, and deck boxes will be announced at a later date.

Rarity

Riftbound features common, uncommon, rare, epic, alt art, and overnumber cards. Rare, epic, alt art, and overnumber cards are always foil, 🅠with the rarest cards featuring multiple layers of foil treatment. There are rare, epic, and alt art versions of the same card.

Each booster pack contains 14 cards:💞 seven bronze commons, three silver uncommons, one foil of any rarity, two rare-or-better cards, and a token or rune. All battlefield cards are uncommon, while champion legend card𓄧s are rare.

Alt art cards will appear at a rate of roughly two per box. Overnumber cards do not reset legality, and will only appear once in around every ten boxes. The rarest car🤡d in Origins is the overnumber signature card featuring the artist’s signature, which will only appear in one out of every 30 boxes.

Organized Play Plans

For local play, Riftbound will support weekly events called Nexus Nights with a promotional three-card Nexus Night pack 🤡which could contain one of 18 possible parallel f🍃oils and/or one of six alt art runes. Runes will appear in roughly one out of every two packs.

Twice per set – one month after release and a month after that – game stores will host Summoner Skirmish - a local competitive event🙈 where competitors can win promo cards, playmats, and byes for future regional tournaments. Each player at a Summoner Skirmish will receive a participation promo card, and those who achieve Top 8, Top 4, the winner of the tournament will receive the corresponding number of promo cards (one for reaching Top 8, the win💛ner will receive a full playset of three). The winner will also get the champion playmat and a bye in the first round of their chosen regional qualifier tournament.

Regional qualifier tournaments will stဣart in December 2025. Top players at each regional will earn an invitation to a regional championship, based on the number of participants:

Number Of Participants Number Of Championship Qualifiers
64 2
129 4
256 8
512 16

Riot anticipates that some regional qualifier tournaments will host mo🐽re than 512 players.

There will be cash prizing at regional qualifier tournaments, as well as higher-level promos and swa🍸g. Riot will al🌳so have ‘best of’ prizing for players who perform well with unique or off-meta decks.

⛄Riot is planning one or two regional championships per region for the first competitive season, but intends to increase that number to two or three in the future. Regional Championships will begin 🀅in October 2026 and will feature a last chance qualifier. Championships will also include cash prizing, promos, and swag, and top players will qualify for the World Championship, date TBD. Expect a tie-in between Riftbound events and Riot’s already existing Riot events, whenever possible.

Trading Card Game Players
via: Guild Hall

Riftbound supports a multitude of game modes, both for casual in store play and for side events at regional tournaments. This includes the standard constructed 1v1 mode, as well as 2v2 teams, multiplayer, sealed, and draft. For sealed, players will open six packs and build a 40-card deck using only three colors. The draft rule set is still in dꦛevelopment.

Riot also teased a 5v5 mode, designed to mimic an actual LoL match.ꦫ This mode will feature three simultaneous games: two 2v2 ‘lane’ matches, and a 1v1 ‘jungler’ match. A team will need to win two out of three matches to win the game.

Will my favorite champion be in Riftbound? Director Dave Guskin answered every version of this question by saying that TCGs are voracious, meaning everything that could happen eventually will. Origins includes a lot of the most popular characters, but everything that exis🐎ts in the world of Runeterra 🔥will eventually make its way into the card game. Guskin says even multiverses like Star Guardian are on the table.

Will there be crossovers between Riftbound and other Riot games? The developers are considering this, but they want to ensure that whatever ▨they do feels valuable to players of both games, rather than just one.

Will there be God Packs? One of the only questions of the day that the developer🌸s answered "no comment" to.
