One of the most exciting aspects of Reka is building the little wooden cottage of your dreams. The game is packed with furniture and decorations, allowing you to truly embrace the maximalist vibe. Aside from decorating, did you know that you can🦩 also cook a variety of meals?

In this guide, we are going to go over how to cook in Reka. While you can't directly eat meals, you can use them for side quests and decoration, as well as sell them to make some coin. This will cover the basics of cooking, as it's meant to help you get st༒arted on this culinary journey.

Where To Cook

Once you complete the opening section to restore the house, you will be able to interact with the oven at the center. This is where you will do all of your cooking. To the right of the oven, you 🐓will see a few shelves. After your food is done cooking, it will move here, where you can either claim it or leave it for displ🔯ay.

Where To Get Cooking Ingredients

There are a few main ways to get ingredients for cooking. Firstly, you will be able to forage while running around the map. Th🉐is includes items like berries, mushrooms, grain, and honey.

Ingredients can also be purchased from the vendor in town. Each town you visit will have an NPC standing next to a covered wagon with items like flour, salt, and mushrooms a💖vailable for purchase.

How To Cook Food

With ingredients in hand, you can start cooking by interacting with the oven. From here, you will be able to pick three ingredients from your inventory to make into a dish. 🥂As you click on them, the ingredients will be placed on the table.

Once three compatible ingredients are placed, they will immediately combine into a bowl that goes into the oven. Inside, the bowl will have a timer displaying how long the cooking process will take; after 💃the time has passed, the food will appear on the she🔯lf.

All learned recipes will be noted down, allowing you to make them again. Additionally, these recipes will fill in your recipe collection, which can be 💖found in the final tab of your journal (the Collecti🌞on section).

Setting Up A Cooking Queue

Rather than just cooking one dish at a time, you are able to set up a queue. After adding three compatible items to the oven, you will be able to select three more. If they can form a dish, the ingredients will combine into a bowl that waits until the oven is free.

You don't have to do anything manually from here. Once the food inside the oven is done cooking, the next one will automatically go inside. After everything is finished, you can then collect it from the shelves.

Adding Fuel To The Oven

In order to cook, you will also need to put fuel in the oven. This is a simple process; all you need to do is head to the back of the oven and interact. 🎐Doing so will zoom into a small compartment where you can place wood. If there isn't enough wood back here, you will need to add morꦡe!

What To Do With Food

Once you've cooked food, there are a few things to do with it. First and foremost, certain NPCs may request a meal, so food is used to complete these quests. ဣFor example, you may come across a quest from an NPC asking ꧑for porridge or bread.

The second thing you can do with food is sell it. This is a great way to turn a profit if you are looking to earn some more coins. We suggest selling foods made with ingredients that you h꧒ave plenty of, such as porridge, which is made from grains.

It's worth mentioning that raw ingredients can sell for more than cooked food on occasion. For example, you may find that selling three sacks of flour is considerably better than selling cooked brওead.

Lastly, food can be used as decorations around your house. From the build menu, you will be able to place down items within your inventory. If you have food on hand, you can put it on tables or counters. This food can add to the environment; for example, cooked bread will have steam rising from it, adding a bit of coziness to an area.
