As a lifelong comic reader, it’s very funny to see people get so riled up about SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS Batman dying in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Superhero deaths are considered a cheap marketing ploy in modern comics, since advertising the death of a b🉐eloved character is a great way to bring attention to a monthly series or big crossover event. No one expects them to last longer t𝐆han a few months, a year at most. So when I see gamers getting worked up over Suicide Squad, my first question is, “Where have you been?” and my second question is, “Why would you be mad about this?”
I was an infant when The Death of Superman was published, so I don’t know firsthand how people reacted to it, but from what I understand, there wasn’t this kind of outrage. Superman’s death in the ‘90s was the one and only superhero death that ever mattered - until it didn’t. Superman #75 sold six million copies, and while some viewed it as a publici𝓰ty stunt at the time, there wasn’t a big outcry of people saying “How dare they do this to Superman?” Mostly, they were just excited to see what would happen next. Of course, Supes was back seven months later, but that’s superheroes for you.
Heck, people voted to kill Jaﷺson Todd! The second Boy Wonder was not as popular or important as Batman or Superman, of course, but people wanted to see Joker torture him to death because they understood it would lead to more compelling storytelling. It seems like the Batman fans of today have a very different perspective than Batman fans 35 years ago.

What Happens To B𝐆atman In Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice L🌠eague Is Cool, Actually
Batman's fate in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a point of debate, but it's exactly the sort 🌸of risk taking video game stories need.
Editor-in-Chief Stacey Henley wrote a brilliant breakdown about why 🅠Arkham fans are distraught over Batman’s ‘di𓄧srespectful’ death, and why this is actually a cool, bold storytelling move for Rocksteady to take, and she’s absolutely right. When Gotham Knights pulled a fast one with a fake Batman death las🍌t year, nobody cared. Sure, some people are mad about Suicide Squad, but this is the kind of creative swing that makes great stories. If you’re a Batman fan,ℱ you should already know this because some of the best ones are centered around his death.
Batman has died more than 20 times in the last 70 years. Most of them were fake-outs, like The Dark Knight Returns, which has Bruce use medicine to fake his death after a battle with Superman, or Birth of the Demon, where Batman is impaled by Ra’s al Ghul before immediately tossing himself in the Lazarus Pit, but he’s had some stickier deaths over the years. He’s never going to die ‘for real’ the way he seemingly does in Suicide Squad (which remains to be seen, they’re already bringing Joker back), but there are some phenomenal ‘death of Batman&rsqu🌃o; stories out there that are beloved by Batman fans.
The entire Batman RIP arc after Final Crisis is widely considered one of the best Dark Knight storylines. Grant Morrison’s bizarre 🌄odyssey through time is a hell of a ride, and watching the Bat-Family cope with the loss of Bruce is so well done, and did so much to develop the younger Bat heroes. I’m a huge fan of Gates of Gotham, (which I consider to be Dick Grayson’s defining turn as the Dark Knight) as well as Battle for the Cowl, but most people will point to Batman #686, AKA Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader, as the best dead Batman story ever.
At hisꦅ funeral, each of the villains in Batman’s rogues gallery eulogizes the hero, while also individually taking credit for his death. It’s a rich character exploration of Batman’s many foes, and a fitting tribute to his legacy. Stories about Batman’s death are often about the hole he leaves behind, and no story has ever captured that as succinctly as this one.
Then there’s Endgame, the culmination of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s New 52 run on the character and my fav🐽orite Joker story of all time. The showdown between Batman and Joker is mythic. As they ruthlessly beat each other to death alone in a dark cave beneath Gotham, you can see their hatred morph into a twiste𒐪d kind of love for one another. Their mutual destruction is intense and satisfying, and it makes way for Commissioner Gordon to pick up the cowl, giving us a fascinating new arc for his character.
There’s plenty more. Last Knight on Earth is essentially Snyder and Capullo’s Dark Knight Returns and just as good, and it ends with a clone of Batman killing the real one. DCeased delivers an emotional ending for the Dark Knight (and pretty much everyone else). Another evil Batman dies in Supe꧂rman: Red Son. And then there’s the infamous Emperor Joker story, where Batman is killed repeatedly for Joker’s (and our own) amusement.
I don’t know if Suicide Squad’s story is any good because 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:I’m n🃏ot going to pay extra to play it early, but as someone who’s been a Batman fan my entire life, I’m not turned off by the idea of him dying at all. Based on every dead Batman story that’s come before, the od♉ds are extremely in Suicide Squad’s favor.
