Over the weekend, developer VOID Interactive announced that it would be censoring certain a꧃spects of Ready or Not ahead of its console release to maintain its ESRB rating, and that those changes would carry over to the PC version due to the game being cross-platform🍷.

The twe🌃aks are fairly minor, lessening violence towards children, allowing dismemberment only for living targets, and removing nudity, but it's been enough to ruffle the community's feathers. As reported by , the game has dropped to a 'Mixed' score on Steam with fans highlighting the supposed "censorship", demanding that the changes be reversed.

"VOID Interactive is censoring the game to appeal to the unwash🧸ed console audiences," reads one review. "I bought and supported the game mostly becaus🦄e of its authenticity, even though the performance and balance issues were abundant. Now I cannot recommend it, as some of the more interesting edges that made it stand out are being sanded down."

"The whole ideology of the game was about showing the things that are not supposed to be talked about, the brutality that emergency services encounter in the real world," another, from 'cool af child hitman', reads. "This game was exciting because there was no ce𒀰nsorship on the real world".

Ready Or Not Players Are Calling For A Boycott, But That's Not Showing In The Numbers

Ready Or Not: SWAT Officers Tactically Walking Towards A Doorway

Ready or Not isn't just facing down the barrel of a review bomb campaign, ༒but also calls for a🅷 boycott. Players are encouraging each other on the forums, subreddit, and in reviews to stop playing until the "censorship" is reversed.

However, the boycott hasn't prꦫoven nearly as successful as the review bomb. On Sunday evening, the game still hit over 13,000 players, which is an even higher figure than its peak player count from May. At the time of writing, on a Monday morning at 8am ET, there are over 7,000 players in-game. That's more than its peak fro🅺m last October.

Despite the backlash, Rea🍬dy or Not is also number 16 in Steam's top seller list, undoubtedly spur𒉰red on by the Summer Sale, which has seen its price slashed by 50 percent. Players might be calling for a boycott, but it looks like very few are actually going ahead with it.
