168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is my favourite Assassin’s Creed game. I don’t think it’s the best, that honor belongs to either Assassin’s Crꦺeed 2 or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, depending on what you’re looking for, but Black Flag will always be the most special to me. I’ve always liked pirates (had I been a noble in the 17th century, I might feel differently), and Black Flag is the perfect sized Assassin’s Creed game for me, so it has my heart. Imagine my joy when a sequel f♎or it was recently announced then. And imagine my despair when it turned out to be a Webtoon comic.
It has been clear for a while that Ubisoft doesn’t quite know what to do with Assassin’s Creed. The series has repeatedly ballooned, and while lightning struck with Odyssey, the largest games in the series tend to be bloated, slow, and crammed with dull filler. Even looking at its future shows a land of contrasts - Mirage is a return to smaller adventures like Altair’s and Ezio’s, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Codename Hexe and Codename Red are rumoured to be the typical overstuffed 80 hour slogs, Codename Jade is a mobile RPG, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:we have Infinity on the way, which is kind o♔f a new game, kind of a platform for existing Assassin’s Creed title🐼s, kind of live-service, kind of nothing.
The series has always spread itself a little thin, too, whether it be ꩲwith spin-offs like Liberation or the side-scrolling Chronicles games. It’s not so much that Black Flag getting a Webtoon comic annoys me. It’s partially that it feels like Assassin’s Creed will never return to this era, but mostly that it was reported by some outlets as a Black Flag sequel.
I know games journalists aren’t the most popular creatures around. I know that when I write about 168澳洲幸运5开💛奖网:Persona 5’s problematic de🥂piction of women, you think I’m taking the fun out of everything. But we don’t need to lie to make things worse for everyone. What people call ‘clickbait’ often just refers to an article that doesn’t ha♋ve every inch of information in the headline itself, or even is just an opinion piece they don’t like. But writing that Ubisoft has announced a Black Flag sequel is just a lie. A deliberate and underhanded one. Why do we do it to ourselves?
Of course, Ubisoft returning to the high seas🌠 for this comic suggests the studio 🐎is aware of the high regard the game is still held in, or perhaps it’s just scattergunning through its history and hoping it hits the bullseye one of these days. I suppose I’d rather it exist than didn’t, but with Assassin’s Creed’s future so messy and unclear, it’s a shame to see the series’ most interesting game overlooked.
Perhaps part of the reason is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Skull & Bones. Currently enjoying what I believe is its 645,398th delay, the pirate game started life as a Black Flag sequel, then had the Assassin’s Creed IP ripped out of it to be something fresh. Th🔯ere’s little hope the game will be any good, given the drawn out development cycle and behind-the-scenes issues, but it’s also in Black Flag&rsqu🎀o;s way. Black Flag was the most unique Assassin’s Creed game and perfect for returning to with a sequel, whether that be direct or just another sailing game. But why would Ubisoft commit to that when Skull & Bones 🐷still isn’t done and has caused so many issues?
I want a Black Flag sequel, and I suppose a Webtoon comic is better than nothing - if it’s successful or has a strong p🅠lot, there’s more chance of it getting rolled out in full. I just wish I hadn’t been told it was a Black Flag sequel first, then found out the truth second.
