Some of most prominent consoles and accessories have been vibrant, colorful pieces of technology, so when 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Princess Peach: Showtime! was announced for the Switch later this month, my desire for decorated controllers grew. In the age of see-through colored cases on electronics and bold, blocky colors, Nintendo spent the '90s and early '00s offering a wide variety of statement tech. Some of my earliest gaming hardware was a hot pink GameBoy Color, a purple GameCube, a semi-transparent indigo GameBoy Advance, and N64 controllers in pretty much every color of the rainbow.

The trend continued as gaming grew in popularity, with heavily stylized accessories launching in tandem with most major cons🎃oles Nintendo released. Even now, you’ll need to wade through version exclusives if you’re trying to purchase new Joy-Con for your Switch, with store shelves eternally lined with thematic gear high🦄lighting some of the company’s biggest titles. Not only does Nintendo offer visually distinct Switch consoles and docks with some of its more major series launches, but you’ll also often be able to purchase certain Joy-Con inspired by the game itself.

Princess Peach: Showtime Preview - Simp♔le, But Sweet

Princess Peach: Showtime might be on t🐼he simpler side of things, but its charm and variety have me interested in the final performance.

Throughout the Switch’s life cycle, some of these designs have been endearing, perfectly emblematic of the game they’re arriving alongside. Super Smash Bros. got Joy-Con with the game’s logo splashed acroꦫss both controllers to make a whole image of the series’ symbol. The Legend of Zelda games of late have launched with intricate Joy-Con designs mirroring Sheikah or Zonai tech from Link’s newest adventures. The Splatoon and Monster Hunter Joy-Con have some of the boldest colors and busiest pat🤪terns of any accessories the company has released to date.

But in recent years, some of these exclusives have felt less than inspired. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Joy-Con were soothing pastels meant to evoke relaxed island life imagery, and the seafoam combination worked well. Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, meanwhile, launched with yellow and brown Joy-Con shade-matched to the two mascot Pokemon. The Super Mario Odyssey Joy-Con were solid red, a shade more vibrant than the💟 Switch’s default red-and-blue offering. Different colored wrist straps and protective top pieces did add splashes of individuality that smoothed things over when used together, but without those accessories for your accessories, you’re left with just a colorful piece of plastic.

Princess Peach: Showtime! launches in a few weeks, though, and while the game is taking drastiꦡc steps to give Peach a more active role in her own adventures, the Joy-Con releasing in tandem with the game are some of the more lackluster Nintendo has launched. The exclusive for Showtime🌜! is a set of pastel pink Joy-Con, devoid of any symbols or markings to declare that they’re in celebration of Peach.

Note: Showtime Is Princess Peach's first solo outing in over a decade, with her first and last title coming in the form of Super Princess Peach on the Nintendo DS.

Not only is the Joy-Con not decorated in any way, but unlike Mario, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon, the set comes with the standard black and gray wrist straps that come with all the other Joy-Con colors. Some fans say it’s a classic feeling and praise the delicate vibe it gives, and Nintendo of America announced the launch with an elegant photo of the Joy-Con posed with tulips of the same hue, but it feels a bit lazy for an $80 price tag. And with a new console 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:likely to launch sometime in 2025 possibly making 🐎these controllers obsolete, it feels like an even bigger ask.

The game these Joy-Con pair with is about Princess Peach transforming into several different iterations of herself, each with unique powers and perks, ꦇso if the focus is about these different forms and how you can use each one, how the heck did the Joy-Con end up being just pink? Even without Peach🐻’s costume changes in the upcoming game, Nintendo had plenty of options for making them more identifiable in celebration of its leading lady – the gemstone from her dress, making use of her new friend Stella and the cute star decor, or hell, even just slapping Peach’s crown icon someplace on one of the controllers and calling it a day would have been more decidedly Peachy.

Princess Peach Showtime Isn't A Platformer, And That's A Good Thing

You can argue that they’re unique in being pastel pink, but just last Spring, Nintendo launched two sets of pastel Joy-Con for the season, one a mint green and lavender set and the other a soft yellow and baby pink. Sure, you didn’t get two pastel pink Joy-Con, but saying they’ve never released a soft pink Joy-Con before is untrue. Changing the colors of the buttons or wrist straps for t⛄he upcoming launch could have helped make the Joy-Con feel more emblematic of Peach, especially with so much color and vibrance in the palette for Showtime!

Don’t get me wrong, the controllers are cute, and at the end of the day, if you’re a fan of that adorable pink color, go for it – I’m not here to tell you how to spend your money. But when the focus of Showtime is on all the different things Princess Peach can be, highlighting the simple, classic elegance of her royalty feels like a misfire. Nintendo could release pink Joy-Con anytime and people would buy them just as readily as they will when these drop 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in tandem with Showtime! on March 22.
