Nintendo doesn't do things the ordinary way. Rather than revealing the Switch 2 in a glitzy sizzle reel designed to crank excitement up to 11, the "Switch successor" was insteꦦad confirmed in a single tweet that contained no other information of substance. No reveal date, no hints at ꩵthe design, not even a name - though I’m sure everyone will be calling it Switch 2 for now. The only thing confirmed in the message was that the Switch 2 will not be at the next Direct, coming in June.
When the time comes to reveal it, it could still get a fancy reveal with all the usual bells and whistles, but it indicates that Nintendo is trying to manage expectations and cork leaks by nonchalantly saying 'it's coming soon, but not that soon'. It takes the pressure off the next Direct while keeping fans on the hook. It's straight-talking, and I respect it. It also nudges my interest in Nin🍸tendo's next move up just a little more, so let's look at which major titles could launch alongside the Switch 2.
Pokemon - Already Confirmed
With 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Legends: Z-A aiming for 2025 and the Switch 2 being revealed in early 2025 (possibly late 2024), we can🃏 safely💫 say we know one title that will be launching with Nintendo's new console to kick off the new era. We don't yet know much about Z-A, but this might be a case of waiting until the Switch 2 shows its hand before we get to see more.
Mario Kart - Almost Certainly
I'm putting Kart a﷽head of a regular Mario game just because MK8 was a mega hit and is now a decade old. This might be the most obvious launch in the history of consoles. If you know any betting stores that take bets on video games instead of horses, bet the farm on MK9 arriving day and date with the Switch 2. If this betting shop also takes farms as cr𒈔edit.
Super Mario - Very Likely
Mario Kart 9 might be more likely, but a new 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario definitely has more opportunity. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Breath of the Wild was the benchmark for the entire reign of the original Switch after launching alongside it, and a 3D Mario has the same potential for the Switch 2. Wonder is great, but 2D is rarely as technologically mind-blowing as 3D, and a follow up to Odyssey could be the most important Mario game since 64 if it offers a great leap forward for Nℱintendo.
Animal Crossing - A Good Chance
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Animal Crossing: New Horizons was a huge system seller and it's been four years since it launched. The sequel won't have a pandemic to aid ꧑its sales (I mean, hopefully), but it's still a pretty good bet. It has the name recognition, charm, wide appeal, and FOMO potential 😼that make it a fantastic launch title, but is four years enough? There were eight years between New Leaf and New Horizons, albeit with spin-offs in between. It's more likely than not in my opinion, but it's not as nailed on as Mario Kart.
Donkey Kong - A Good Chance
We are 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:long overdue for a new 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Donkey Kong game, and with Nintendo Land expanding to include DK before getting to more marketable characters like Zelda or Pokemon, that could suggest Nintendo is ready to bet big on the barrel-thrower for the Switch 2. Buoyed by heavy presence in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this donk might be about to have its day.
Mario Party - Maybe
The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mario Party games have dipped in popul🎃arity a little recently, with only one non-numbered entry and a greatest hits collection on the Switch. Still, they remain staples of Nintendo's catalogue and you'd imagine some kind of casual, kinetic title would be on shelves for launch. I'm not convinced it will be Mario Party, but it will be something.
Kirby - Maybe
I forgot Kirby existed until I read back over this list. I like Kirby. I can't think of a reason for Kirby not to be there. But Ki💜rby doesn't feel exciting. Itꦕ's a big fat pink ‘maybe’.
The Legend of Zelda - Maybe
This is a tough one because, on the one hand, BOTW helped the Switch kickstart its supremacy, so Nintendo knows what Zelda can do. On the other, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tears of the Kingdom came out just last year and stretched the Switch to its limits. It seems unlikely that another monumental title was made alongside TOTK, though I'm sure whenever we get a new Zelda on the increased power of the Switch 2, it w♒ill be impressive. The middle ground could be a remake of something like Ocarina of Time, designed to highlight the far greater scope granted by the Switch 2. If we get Zelda, it will be an appetiser, not a main course.
Fire Emblem - Maybe
It's a similar story with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fire Emblem, though without the legacy of Zelda. We'd be just two years out from Engage when the Switch 2 arrives, maybe two and half depending on when the actual launch is. That's probably not enough time for a new Fire Emblem, but remakes have been consistently rumoured for year꧂s. If Genealogy of the Holy War isn't revealed in the June Direct as a curtain closer for the Switch, it could be the opening band for the Switch 2 before some headliners drop.
Metroid - Maybe
Much like Fire Emblem, the rumours of remakes and sequels have been persistent for years now. I think there's as much chance of Metroid being the last game on the Switch as there is of it being the first game on the Switch 2, and probably more chance that the rumours are just rumours and we 🦩carry on waiting. Speaking of...
Hollow Knight: Silksong - Doubtful
Look, sooner or later this game has to come out, right? With ratings leaks and rumb📖lings of a release date, the wait could finally be over - and with it, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the end of an era. But I suspect it will beat the Switch 2 out of the gates, as today's statement on the Switch 2 suggests it will be after Christmas. Even if it doesn't, launching alongside the Switch 2 is a surefire way to crush the momentum Silksong has built up. The only thing worse would be launching alongside GTA 6.
Star Fox - Doubtful
Dಌon't do this to yourself, you're not getting anoth🌺er one.
Kid Icarus - Doubtful
168澳💮洲幸运5开奖网:Don't do this to me, ওI'm not getting another one.
