In a stroke of genius, one Pokemon fan used their chance in the presence of His Holiness to get him to sign one of their cards - a Popplio card, to be specific. In images being circulated online, we can see Pope Leo presented with a Popplio card, and then the lucky owner holding it up to show his signature. So, if Pope Leo had s൩omehow gone his whole life without holding a Pokemon card before this, then he certainly has now.

Now, I did some digging to find out who the lucky owner of the card is, and it doesn't appear to be the Twitter user being shared around. That "original" tweet showing the card actively being signed has been deleted at the behest of someone who claims to be a friend of the card owner, which is then backed up by someone else saying that they are the card owner, .

As you can see here, they've shared another picture of the card as proof of ownership, which was then s🎃hared on Twitter by a friend. Furthermore, they say that th﷽e person we see presenting the card to Pope Leo is not them and that they passed it to this other person to get it signed.

If you were wondering, no, the apparent owner they have no intention of selling it, despite the high price they could probabl🌺y set for it. If you want one yourself, you'll just have to seek an audience with the pope.

This is far from the first instance that w൩e've seen the institution of the Catholic church crossover into the world of gaming. As I alluded to, Leo's predecessor, Pope Francis, was given a copy of Undertale as a gift back in 2016. YouTuber MatPat presented Francis with what we can assume was a Steam code of the game, although it's unclear if either he or anyone close to him ever got around to playing it - or even had the means to do so.
