Roaring Moon Ex Deck Key Cards

Pokemon TCG Nest Ball

These are the most important cards of this deck:

Roaring Moon Ex

Roaring Moon ex by Takuyoa

Roaring Moon is the protagonist of this deck. It’s a Dark-Type card with 230 HP. It’sꦦ co💦nsidered tanky, which goes well with its two attacks.

Roaring Moon’s first attack is Frenzied Gouging, which Knocks Out your opponent’s active Pokemon but deals 200 damage to itself at the same time. The self-inflicted 200 damage might seem like a big issue, but there are several cards in this deck that can heal or add some extra HP to Roaring Moon, mitigating the damage.

On the other hand, Roaring Moon’s second attack is Calamity Storm, which deals 100 damage plus 120 if there’s a stadium in play, discarding said stadium afterward. 220 damage is 𝓰excellent; with it, you can sweep any basic deck out there and leave any ex or VSTAR on a tigh༺trope.

Both attacks cost three Energy Cards, which is a lot, but that’s not an issue, as this deck supplies Roaring Moon with great teammates that can suit it ideally to be ready to attack in turn two.

Ancient Booster Energy Capsule & Emergency Jelly

Pokemon TCG Ancient Booster Energy Capsule

It’s time to address these cards, which are essential to keep Roaring Moon alive. If you attach the Ancient Booster Energy Capsule to Roaring Moon, it’ll have 60 more HP and be immune to all Special Conditions.

So, instead of hanging in the Active Spot with 30 HP after Frenzied Gouging, Roaring Moon will stay at 90 HP. It’s a big difference, considering the idea of this deck is to attack at turn two; if your opponent has suited itself properly, you'll still have to defeat more Pokemon after taking the first one down.

Pokemon TCG Emergency Jelly Card

Alternatively, you can use the Emergency Jelly, which will heal 150 HP from Roaring Moon if it hangs in the field with 30 HP or less.

You can switch the Emergency Jelly for Nest Balls if you want to prioritize drawing Pokemon over healing Roaring Moon. The Ancient Booster Energy Capsule is vital, so never replace it.

Morpeko

Pokemon TCG Morpeko Card

Morpeko is excellent when played alongside Roaring Moon, since it has free retreat, can deal some decent damage, and will help Roaring Moon set up.

This Pokemon has an ability named In a Hungry Hurry, and if Morpeko has no Energy Cards attached to it, you can retrieve it at no cost. It goes well with its attack, Energizer Wheel, which deals 70 damage and lets you move two Dark Energy Cards from Morpeko to one of your benched Pokemon which, of course, would ideally be Roaring Moon.

Brute Bonnet

Pokemon TCG Brute Bonnet Ancient Card

Brute Bonnet deserves a mention as it’ll help you reach even more damage with Roaring Moon if you decide to attack using Roaring Moon’s Calamity Storm. Brute Bonnet will use its ability, Toxic Powder, to poison your and your opponent's Pokemon.

Keep in mind that this can only be done if Brute Bonnet has an Ancient Booster Energy Capsule attached to it, and you'll need to attach another one to Roaring Moon so you prevent it from getting poisoned.

Don’t use Toxic Powder if you don’t have Roaring Moon in the Active Spot, as the rest of your cards won’t have any protection against poisoning.

Squawkabilly Ex

Pokemon TCG Squawkabilly Ex Card

Squawkabilly will let you set up and change things if you start the match with a poor firsthand. This is because it has an ability called Squawk and Seize, which lets you discard your hand and draw six cards only in the first turn.

Lumineon V & Radiant Greninja

Pokemon TCG Radiant Greninja Radiant Rare Card-3

Lumineon V & Radiant Greninja are on this deck because of their utility, since Lumineon gives you access to the Forest Seal Stone because it’s a Pokemon V and only those can use this kind of card. Aside from that, you can use its ability, Luminous Sign, to search for a Supporter Card on your deck.

It’s fair to say that to activate Luminous Sign, you must retreat Lumineon from the Active Spot to the bench.

And then we have Radiant Greninja, which allows you to draw two cards from your deck but only if you discard an Energy Card, via its ability Concealed Cards. This card is in this deck because of the Energy Card discarding, and it'll go well alongside the next two cards.

Let's✱ see what we can do with this legendary creature.

Professor Sada's Vitality & Dark Patch

Professor Sada's Vitality is in charge of supplying Roaring Moon with Energy Cards. Upon using it, you can attach an Energy Card from the discard pile to two Ancient Pokemon you have in play, and after doing that, you can draw three cards from your deck.

Pokemon TCG Dark Patch Card

If you don’t find Professor Sada on your first turn, you can try to get a Dark Patch, which works the same; with it, you can attach a Dark-type Energy Card from the discard pile to a Dark-type Benched Pokemon.

Earthen Vessel

Pokemon TCG Earthen Vessel Card

To get the Energy Cards you'll send to the discard pile afterward, you’ll be using Earthen Vessel. With this card, you can get two Basic Energy Cards, but only if you discard a card first, so this is good as you can discard an Energy Card that you’ll retrieve via Professor Sada’s Vitality and, simultaneously, have two other Energy Cards in your hand ready to be used.

PokeStop

Pokemon TCG PokeStop Card

PokeStop will come in handy to draw those items you need to use to make the strategy work. If there’s a PokeStop in play, both players, on their respective turns, must draw the top three cards of their decks, then take all the items drawn, and the rest of the cards will he💃ad to the discard pile.

If you sent a supporter to the discard pile but need it, you can always search for a Pal Pad to draw it from there.

Roaring Moon Ex Deck Strategy

Special Art Rare Iono From Paldea Evolved

For this deck, it’s vital to start searching for the Roaring Moon cards, and then, you must draw both Radiant Greninja and Morpeko.

You can start the match with a Roaring Moon as your active Pokemon, but it’s important to search for Morpeko and another Roaring Moon; Morp🌜eko will be the next card you’ll use after the first🥃 Roaring Moon gets knocked out, and the second Roaring Moon will get on the Active Spot after the first one is about or gets Knocked Out.

To attack, you need Energy Cards. You’ll get them by drawing items such as the Earthen Vessel, so first, try to look for that card. But that’s not all, as you also need to send these Energy Cards to the discard pile, so the perfect card for this job is Professor Sada's Vitality.

A good strategy is to find a PokeStop. It will give you items, and if there are Energy Cards at the top of the deck, send them to the discard pile.

If you aim to attack at turn two, you only need to send a single Energy Card to the discard pile, as you🅠 can attach the other two during your two turns.

Sending three to four Energy Cards to the discard pile is a good idea so you can charge as many Roaring🥃 Moon cards as possible.

As Roaring Moon is charged, go ahead and attack with it. Using Frenzied Gouging or Calamity Storm will depend on the match and how much you need the Stadium in play.

If you use Frenzied Gouging, the most possible outcome is that you might need another Roaring Moon, so be sure you charge a second one. When the first one gets defeated, send the second Roaring Moon to the Active Spot and stomp your opponents until you win.

Roaring Moon Ex Deck Common Threats

Roaring Moon’s deck does not use any Ability or special toolbox to set itself up, so all the weaknesses or potential match defeats will come from the deck itself.

No matter how good the deck can be, you’ll have a bad time playing it if you don't have luck drawing cards, as you'll need specifics like the same Roaring Moon, Radiant Greninja, the Ancient Energy Booster Capsule, the Earthen Vessel, and Professor Sada’s Vitality.

Anything related to Grass-types can sweep Roaring Moon if they manage to attack first, as Roaring Moon is weak to Grass-type cards. The met🐓a isn’t known for having strong ꩲGrass-types, so it’s not a big deal.
