Regidrago VSTAR

Regidrago VSTAR is the star of this deck, and despite having no damaging attacks, it's the only Pokemon you should be attacking with in most games. Its Apex Dragon attack requires two Grass and one Fire Energy and allows you to copy any attack from a Dragon-type Pokemon in your discard pile.

The ability to copy attacks this way means that you can load your deck with one-of Dragon-type Pokemon that you don't need to play, evolve, or have energy for, as long as you have ways to throw them into your discard pile. This gives you potential access to dozens of different attacks, depending on what you include in your deck.

Dragapult ex

Regidrago VSTAR needs access to an all-around strong attack that it can use every turn, and Dragapult ex provides. Its Phantom Dive attack deals 200 damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon, then allows you to put six damage counters on your opponent's Benched Pokemon any way you want.

In addition to doing enough damage to two-shot any current Pokemon, those six extra damage counters give you a lot of flexibility. You can snipe weak Benched Pokemon befo🎶re they can be evolved into threats, soften upcoming threats so that you can KO them once they become Active, and disrupt draw engines like Radiant Greninja and Comfey.

Teal Mask Ogerpon ex

Teal Mask Ogerpon ex provides the ability to attach an extra Basic Grass Energy each turn, as long as you attach it to Ogerpon. You could use this to build up Ogerpon's Myriad Leaf Shower attack, but the real point is to set up Regidrago VSTAR faster.

Combo Teal Mask Ogerpon ex's Teal Dance ability with Energy Switch to move those Basic Grass Energy cards from♊ Teal Mask Ogerpon ex to Regidrago VSTAR to be ready to start attacking on your second turn.

Kyurem

The Shrouded Fable version of Kyurem has the Trifrost attack, which deals 110 damage to each of three of your opponent's Pokemon, at the cost of discarding all energy from the Pokemon that used the attack. It costs five Energy on Kyurem, but only three on Regidrago, making it a muc🐎h more efficient attack, especially since Regidrago can reasonably get all three energy cards attached to attack again on the next turn.

Kyurem is most effective against decks that use Stage 2 Pokemon, like Charizard ex and Gardevoir ex. By targeting your opponent's Basic Pokemon before they can evolve, you can disrupt their strategy and force them to play around yours. Ideally, one good Trifrost on your second turn should be enough to throw your𓆉 opponent off and secure a win.

Squawkabilly ex

One of the most important things to get Regidrago VSTAR up and running is getting other Dragon-type Pokemon into your discard pile. Ultra Ball and Earthen Vessel let you discard a card or two to search for other cards, and Professor's Research dumps your entire hand into the discard pile and replaces it with sevenಌ new cards, but ca✤n't be used on the first turn.

Squawkabilly ex accelerates the deck by allowing you an extra Professor's Research each turn, including on t🌠urn one. It will come up one card short, of course, but it still p♊uts your Dragons in your discard pile and gives you six fresh cards.

Use Ultra Ball to search for the Dragon-type Pokemon y💮ou need in your discard pile before using Squawkabilly or Professor's Research to put them there.

Regidrago VSTAR Strategy

Regidrago VSTAR can set up and start attacking in two turns, so you'll want to go first to be able to attack before your opponent can get their deck running. Set Regidrago V as your Active Pokemon, and use 🦄Nest Balls𝕴 to put an Ogerpon ex and a Squawkabilly onto your bench.

If you have any Basic Energy in your hand, play one on your Regidrago V and a Basic Grass Energy on your Ogerpon ex. You'll also want to Energy Switch the Basic Grass Energy onto Regidrago V and use an Ultra Ball to search for a Dragapult ex before using Squakabilly ex's Squawk and Seize ability as a first-turn Professor's Research.

If your opponent sets Charmander, Ralts, or another Basic Pokemon that wiﷺll evolve into a threat, try to get Kyurem into your discard pile instead of ꦏDragapult ex.

A perfect first turn like that means that all you need to do on turn 2 is attach the final energy and evolve Regidrago V to Regidrago VSTAR, and you're off to the races. If you missed any of those steps, don't fret! On turn two, you still have access to Squawkabilly's Squawk and Seize as well as Professor's Research🎀 to look fo𒀰r any Energy, Energy Switches, or other items and Pokemon you need to finish setting up.

Once you're set-up, you can start using Apex Dragon to copy Phantom Dive for KOs and to soften your opponent's Benched Pokemon. Watch out for situations that would warrant a different attack, though; If your opponent plays several Basic Pokemon or three or fewer Pokemon with 110 HP, use Kyurem's Trifrost to disrupt their gameplay or even take an early win or, in a mirror match, use Hsuian Goodra VSTAR's Rolling Iron to soften up your opponent's Regidrago while protecting your own.

Regidrago VSTAR Common Threats

Lugia VSTAR

Lugia VSTAR is potentially a tough matchup for Regidrago VSTAR. The Archeops / Cinccino combo has the potential to start picking off your Regidrago VSTARs in just a co🅷uple of turns, while Mist Energy and V Guard Energy will make it that much harder to KOඣ your opponent's Pokemon, both Active and Benched.

Hsuian Goodra's Rolling Iron attack can protect your Regidrago VSTAR for 🙈a couple of turns while you take out your opponent's Archeops, which will slow down their setup. Then start working on the Cinccinos, focusing on KOing them before they can accu🎶mulate enough Special Energy cards to be a threat.

Triftost can KO three Cinccinos at once, but not if they have V Guard Energy attached. Temple of Sinnoh can turn off the V Guard Energy effect, but Lugia VSTAR can discard it the next turn. Hold it until it's strategically advantageous, ideally when you can KO three Cinccinos, each with ♛a V Guard Energy attached.

Gardevoir Ex

Gardevoir ex decks include a lot of disruption an๊d can one-shot your Regidrago VSTAR if allowed to set up their Drifloon. Wa൩tch out for your opponent to use Counter Catcher to pull out your Pokemon that can't attack, or to use Unfair Stamp to get rid of your hand.

To counter disruption, hold off on using your Legacy Star ability until after your opponent has used their Unfair Stamp (or revealed another Ace Spec card), and be careful about putting damage counters on your oꦐpponent's Drifloons unless 𝄹you can KO them immediately.
