I’ve enjoyed collecting cards in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon TCG Pocket, but there are other elements of the game that I’m less keen on. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Wonder Picking i💃s a lose-lose situation. The shop is barren. Everything funnels you towards spending cash. The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:battles are stale. And so on.

I’ve played a lot of battles thanks to various events, but I’ve never dipped my toes back in after an event has finished. Why? Because it’s not fun. There’s too much RNG, Misty is downright broken, and everyone plays the same two boring decks. Mewtwo ex and Starmie ex have a chokehold on the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon TCG Pocket meta, and the new Mythical Island booster packs look to make it a whole loꦕt worse🃏.

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mewtwo ex is successful because of its powerful Psydrive attack, which deals 150 damage but removes two of your own energy cards. This should mean you can only attack every other turn, but if you combine it with Gardevoir, the latter’s ability allows you to attach an extra energy to Mewtwo each turn, allowing🔯 you to fire off Psydrives like you’re coming out 🦋of your test tube and you’re doing just fine.

Starmie doesn’t quite have the synergy that Mewtwo has, but it’s still plenty powerful. Two energy for 90 damage on a stage one Pokemon? It’s quick, it’s fast, and it’s got pace. Few things can stand up to the might of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Starmie ex, especially when paired with Articuno ex, which can be prepared on your bench while Starmie wrecks shop. Both are aided by Misty, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the most powerful card in the game, which loads you up with energy, allows you to attack on your🐭 first turn, and perform countless other shenanigans.

What’s Included In The Pokemon TCG Pocket Mythical Island Booster Set?

Now we’ve got that context out of the way, here’s a sneak peak at what 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon TCG Pocket’s 🦋M🌺ythical Island booster set will add to the game. Is it some counterplay to Mewtwo or Starmie? Some Dark- or Lightning-type synergies, perhaps? No, it’s made th༺e best decks better and 𓂃left the rest of us in the dirt.

The highlight is Mew ex, which looks really cool. Essentially a more powerful version of Ditto, I can imagine running a really fun deck with the pair of transforming monsters and winning just as much as I lose. This is a fun card, the kind of cards that should be put in the game. Not cards like Va⛦poreon.

Like an unfortunate copypasta replaying in your mind, Vaporeon is causing problems again. The new card has𒁃 stunning art, I’ll give it that much, but its ability will make Starmie ex decks unbearable.

Wash Out allows you to move a Water energy from one of your benched Pokemon to your active Pokemon during your turn. As often as you’d like. As. Often. As. You’d. Like. This silliness, in conjunction with Misty allowing you to attach 11 energies to your Pokemon a turn or something daft (that’s what my opponents always♕ seem to get), will lead to the most frustrating battles known to man. This is like giving Mewtwo ex a Misty variant to generate infinite energy.

Not only will Water decks be used even more than they are now, 🥃you’ll barely be able to play the game. You’ll be sat there for the duration of your opponent’s 90-second turn limit as they swap energies around to their heart’s content. It’ll enable those time wasters whose entire strategy is hoping you’ll quit 𝕴because you’re bored. It’ll turn battling from a chore to a Sisyphean grind, only if Sisyphus didn’t actually push the boulder at all before gravity smote it back down.

Is There Any Hope For Mythical Island?

I can’t hold it against the developers – these boosters are probably decided months in advance⛎, before they can see metas develop and work out what’s strong. But did they not playtest Misty at all? And 🗹did they not see that Vaporeon’s ability will only make this deck archetype even more oppressive?

On the other hand, I doubt PvP is of much concern to the developers of t𝓡his game. This isn’t designed to be competitive, it’s designed to make mꩲoney. And make money it is doing. If more people buy more packs to either get the broken Vaporeon card or to counter it, it has done its job. Perhaps that was the plan all along.

Are there any silver linings? I’ll be glad to get some use out of my much-loved Lightning-type deck, at least. Perhaps the strong Vaporeon card is a prelude to a devastating Misty nerf, a little “sorry we destr❀oyed your deck strategy” apology note before a swift rebalance. And it’s clear that fan tournaments will have to implement a ban list quickly, and that either Misty, Vaporeon, or both will be wri💖tten at the top of it in big, black letters with a red cross through them for good measure.

On its own, Mythical Island seems like a good time. It’s got nice card artwork, a cool♔ Mew ex to lead the line, and it’s something fresh to open after trying (and failing) to find the alt art Gengar for the past month. But when you look at it from a battling perspective, this could suck the last re🐷maining vestiges of fun from both casual and competitive play. Is it really worth it?
