An Icon Is Born

The Legendary Collecti🔯on, released in 2002, was intended to bring back cards from the older sets in an attempt to allow fans to get their hands on some of the most iconic꧋ cards. Choosing the best Venusaur cards was simple at the time, but the iconic design remains relevant in the market today.

This set also features reverse holofoils which boast sales up to $400 in near-mint condition, but unfortunately, there is not enough data for TCGPlayer to display an accurate market price.

Venusaur's card is a reprint of the Base Set version and sells for roughly $63. Wizards of the Coast planned on releasing a Legendary Collection 2, but their license was pulled before they had the chance, leading these cards to soar in value.

Switching to the promo side of things, this Dark Venusaur features a plainer design than you might expect, but a gorgeous one nonetheless. While the original Japanese version was a Winner card, the English version was released in the Pokemon Card Trainers magazine in 2001, featuring an iconic e-Reader era design.

This card was originally only printed in Japan and was later introduced in English via the "Best Of" Promo Series.

This card comes in a variety of conditions considering how old it is, so you can expect to pay anywhere between $20 (damaged) and $85 (near-mint), depending on how good the condition is.

This card currently fetches about $95. Scarcity is the ally of value, and in this case, it's super hard to track down this promo independently without the aid of an official shop.

You might assume that the Base Set version of Venusaur would sell for much more than $95 on average, but there are some factors in play determining that price. The first is that Venusaur is sadly not as popular or desirable as either Blastoise o🌠r Charizard.
