If you're looking to collect your favorite Charizard cards and want to see how high this Pokemon's price ꧑can fly, here are the most valuable Charizard cards for you to hunt down.

Updated January 18, 2025, by Andrew Scariati: With TCGplayer's market prices finally updated to reflect the most expensive Charizard card, there's a new claim to the throne. Pricing the rarest Charizard card is no easy task, but we finally have a more accurate picture of these Charizard gems.
12 𒁃 Charizard (Secret Rare): Dragon – $449.00
A Secret Dragon
Despite Charizard's visual appearance heavily resembling some of the other Dragon-type Pokemon depicted in the TC⛄G, this Pokemon's inclusion in Dragon isn't based on its typing. Even so, Charizard's honorary inclusion in the set is more than just charity, as this card comes with a pr💜ice tag worth boasting about.
This expensive Charizard card typically trades in the $300 range for lightly played (LP) copies, though you'll likely pay the market price if you're only searching for a near-mint (NM) copy. Regardless of which you buy, this artwork features one of the most unusual depictions of Charizওard in🌃 the Pokemon TCG.
11 Charizard GX (Secret 🐭Rare): Hidden Fates Shiny Vault – $468.54
Starting A Shiny Bonanza
The Charizard GX is one of the most valuable cards from the S🎶un & Moon era due to i♏ts stunning pose, bold shiny𓆏 palette, and scarcity. You won't find many other Shiny Pokemon from the Hidden Fates Shiny Vault that ascend to this level of popularity at this high of a price.
While it commanded a respectably high value in previous years, 2024 set this Shiny Charizard's price on fire, as it skyrocketed from the low-300s, reaching as high as $450 in near-mint (NM) condition. Lightly Played (LP) copies can net you aℱ $100 to $150 discount off the current market price.
10 🍰 Charizard (Promo): SWSH066 Staff Prerel🀅ease – $599.98
An Electrifying Start For Promo Cards
This Sword & Shield era promo is difficult to find, especially in NM condition, as its market price is entirely based on a single recent NM sale at $499. While that sale will dictate the market for the time being, there are numerous other listings of copies in worse condition.

Pokemon TCG: The 12 𒆙Most Valuable Cards From The Sword & Shield Era
From Moonbreon to Gengar and many more, the♉se are the best cards from Sword & Shield.
Despite several listed ranging from damaged to NM, even LP copies priced well below the last NM sale remain repurchased. The market still needs to give an expanded opinion on this card's price, but it earns the title of one of the most valuable Charizard cards.
9 ꧟ Charizard (Holo Rare): Expedition – $61ꦇ9.99
Going On A Journey
This C🔯harizard from Expedition flies thro🌠ugh the darkened sky in the background with a vibrant holo pattern to liven it up.
This card comes in both Holo and Reverse Holofoil versions, with the market price set by a sole sale at $619.
Despite its rarity, this Charizard card should remain among the upper echelon as more sales are recorded on TCGplayer, though the market for vintage cards like this typically doesn't list this card on that platform, especially in raw condition. With an NM copy pr🦩iced below $600, look for this card's market price to drop slightly.
8 Charizard (Secret Rare): Plasma Storm – $650.01 𒆙
Blazing A Trail
The first time we get to see an all-black shiny version of the Flame Pokemon comes from the Plasma Storm expansion, the eighth s💝et to release as part of the Black & White arc. If you look closely at this card's set number, it's number 136 of 135 cards in💯 the set, making it a special Secret Rare, an incredibly hard card to pull from packs thanks to a very low drop rate.
This isn'♛t the first time we've seen a shiny Charizard on a card, but it does mark one of the first tiไmes it was seen with a 3D model, helping to distinguish it from other valuable Charizard cards.
7 Charizard ex (Ultra Rare): Fire🌺Red & LeafGreen – $694.99
A Fiery Holo
Charizard ex has a lot going for it to help elevate its value to staggering heights. Printed in 2004's EX FireRed & LeafGreen set, Charizard ex marks the first time the fiery lizard was printed as a more powerful ex Pokemon. These cards ꦜboast higher health, attacks, and abilities, while also providing a whole new level of exclusivity and mechanics to b𒈔e designed around.
Though ex cards had been around for several sets before this one was released, fans clamored over this card as itꩵ felt like a functional reprint of the original Base Set thanks to some very similar powers and attacks that came with this card.
6 Charizard EX (Promo): JP Pokemon Card Game Art Collection𒆙 – $850.00
A Japanese Exclusive
This incredibly vibrant and detailed promo card features one of the best Charizard arts of all time, as its battle against Venuaur rages on in this epic artwork. These Mega Evolutions are wrapped up in a serious battle, and the real winner is this Charizard EX's value.

Pokemon TCG: The 7 Most Valuable 🌱Japanese Cards Released in 2024꧅
2024's b♚est Japanese cards are worth a small fortune.
Japanese cards are usually considered separately, but given that this card only exists in Japanese and has such a high value, it warrants inclusion among the most🥀 expensive Charizard cards of all time.
There are only a few recorded sales, with a lack of sales leading to a lower-than-expected, though some listings are priced far higher. While the🌃 lowest listed copy is priced far above market price, it's only a matter of time until anot🗹her sale pushes this card up.
5 Blaine's Charizard (Holo Rare): Gym Challenge – $936.79
A First-Rate Team
A few things are going for Blaine's Charizard to help boost its value among collectors. First, there's a pretty good chance that any given copy of the card is goi🔯ng to have one of two misprints on it. The first is on some versions of the card, the rules text on the Roaring Flame attack will feature a Fighting Energy symbol instead of the correct Fire Energy symbol.
If it doesn't have that error, then it'll have a regular Fire Energy symbol, but the word 'Energy' will have a lowercase 'e' instead of the correct cap𒊎꧋italized one.
To be fair, the Fighting🐻 Energy version also features the lowercase 'e🙈', but it is unique among cards that such a huge error was able to slip past the production process twice since they occurred in two different print runs of the card.
4 💮 Charizard (Secret Rare): Skyridge &n☂dash; $1,199.00
A Crown Of Crystal
The first and so far only time Charizard has been featured on a Colorless card, this Charizard from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the 2003 set Skyridge ꧟distinguishes itself from other valuable versions of the normally Fire-type Pokemon with its unique abilities andဣ attacks.
While TCGplayer doesn't always list a market price for this card, one sold in LP condition for the market price, ind𒆙icating 🐻that copies in better condition will command far more than that.
Interestingly, this Charizard is part of the final set that the game company Wizards of the Coast developed, and as such, only had a single print run, leading to fewer cards being printed compared to other sets of the time. This has helped catapult this Charizard's value up to so🌃me of the highest levels among Charizard cards.
3 Charizard Star (Ultra Rare): Dragon Frontiers – $🦋1,402.80 ꦅ
The Shiny Strikes
Unique among Charizard cards at the time, the Charizard Star counts itself special since it is another special printing of a shꦑiny Charizard, giving the normally red Pokemon a stunning black pallet swap and marking the first time Charizard can be found as a Dark-type Pokemon card instead of its usual Fir🔯e typing.
Unfortunately, this card's rarity makes it difficult to a🐓nalyze, as TCGplayer doesn't always have up-to-date sales data for rare Charizard cards like this one. As such, the previous market price r💝emains until TCGplayer has more data.
As part of 2006's EX Dragon Frontiers expansion, this Charizard's rarity and value are bumped up a bit thanks to its Star stat♏us, making it incredibly hard🎃 to find in packs back around the time of its release.
