While the exact date of the Poke Ball's conception is unknown, it is widely believed that their origins start in the Johto region, an area where the devices' main ingredient was readily available. Apricorns are then hollowed out and combined with a material called a Tumblestone, and somet꧑imes chunks of iron depending on the type of ball being crafted. While Apricorns serve as the base for these ancient Poke Balls, the "magic" of the Poke Ball is granted by the Tumblestones. It's stated that these stones, when combined with an Apricorn, grant a Poke Ball its ability to entrap Pokemon with the pocket-sized device. There are also two different types of Tumblestones aside from the standard that can be used to make different subsets of Poke Balls.
Black Tumblestones are used to make Leaden, Heavy, and Gigaton Balls, which are a heavier set of Poke Balls that, while difficult to throw, have an increased chance of capturing a Pokemon struck from behind. Sky Tumblestones, which are a light blue color, are the exact opposite. They are used to make Poke Balls that are lighter and capable ꦬof being thrown large distances. The Poke Balls that use thes𝓰e types of Tumblestones are Feather Balls, Wing Balls, and Jet Balls.
Life Before The Poke Ball
Prior to the Poke Ball's invention, the relationship between humans and Pokemon was far more antagonistic. Humans were fearful of Pokemon and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the power they possessed. It was something they couldn't replicate or understand, and they lashed out as a result. This spurned Pokemon into associating humans with danger or pain, and they responded in kind. The latch was replaced by a physical button and the vent on top was done away with. It's also believed that crafters stopped using Tumblestones at some point, as they're never mentioned outside of Legends: Arceus. This would mean that the mysterious powers that allow Poke Balls to function instead comes from the Apricorn itself.
This belief is also supported due to the various specialized balls are crafted using different colors of Apricorn. It's never mentioned when or where these Apricorn variations appeared, or if they even grew naturally, but these new types offered a wider variety of Poke Balls. Through research spearheaded by Professor Westwood of Celadon University, a university whose existence is only noted in the Encyclopedia Pokemonica and Pokemon Daisuki Club, it was found that the modern-day Poke Ball was invented in 1925.
This version of the Poke Ball moved away from Apricorns, becoming completely inorganic. How people were able to replicate the 'magic' of Apricorns is unclear, but several companies were built off of this information. Kanto's Silph Co., Hoenn's Devon Corporation, Kalos' Poke Ball Factory are three of the biggest producers of Poke Balls to date, though Silph Co. is the largest by far. They are also thꦚe ones responsible for the greatest, and possiblyꦅ the most dangerous, item.
The Master Ball
The Master Ball is quite possibly the single greatest invention of the Pokemon World. Never before had there been a single instrument that can subdue even Legendaries, a feat that had only been achieved using the Red Chain. The ability to tame Legendary Pokemon without any effort is a power that many desired and coveted by many. It's what led to Team Rocket's raid on Silph Co., after all. It was dangerous and far too powerful for human hands. That's why there's only one and no records of how it was created.
