Pokemon Master Journeys debuted on Netflix this past Friday with 12 new episodes. In this second series of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sword & Shield-themed adventures, Ash and Goh are joined by Chloe, the daughter of Professor Cerise who has thus far been reluctant about becoming a Pokemon trainer. In the first episode of the new series, Chloe meets an Eevee who is also unsure about its future. The Eevee is unable to evolve - despite daily prodding by a pair of Eevee researchers - because like Chloe, it’s struggling to find its confidence. When Chloe and Eevee meet up, there’s an immediate connection between them, and after an obligatory tussle with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Team Rocket, the pair decide to officially become partners.
It’s a grea🌼t first step for Chloe in her journey as a trainer, but there’s a particular moment early in this episode that really stands out. When Chloe and Eevee first meet, Goh excitedly tells her that Eevee is an amazing Pokemon who can “✨evolve into one of eight different forms that have been discovered so far.”
That’s just an incredibly weird way to say “Eevee has eight different evolutions,” isn’t it? Why would he need to say the “discovered so far” part? New Eeveelutions have been discovered over time, but the same could be said about plenty of other Pokemon that have been given pre- and final stage evolutions over time. When 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Goh met Slowking on Slowpoke Island, he didn't say that there are two Slowpoke evolutions “so far”. Why then does he clarify that there’s eight Eevees so far, if not to suggest there will be more?
After the original three Eeveelutions, Espeon and Umbreon were added in Gen II. Leafeon and Glaceon were both discovered in Gen IV, while Sylveon was added in Gen VI with the introduction of Fairy. Going by that schedule, many expected there to be a new Eeveelution (or two) in Gen VIII, but this was not the case. Goh’s comment could eith✱er be cause to hold out hope for the future, or a twisting knife in the heart of Eevee fans.
The thing is, the Eeveelution circle is actually in desperate need of two new types. Currently, all of the Eeveelutions have a counter type they are weak too except for Jolteon and Sylveon. Flareon beats Glaceon, Glaceon beats leafeon, Leafeon beats Vaporeon, Vapo🐼reon beats Flareon, Uꦬmbreon beats Espeon, Sylveon beats Umbreon, but there’s nothing that beats Sylveon or Jolteon. The only electric-type counter we have is ground, while fairy-type counters would either be poison or steel.
Some people are obviously hoping for a dragon-type, simply because dragons are cool and it would be fun to🐎 see what a dragon-type Eevee would like like, but given their weakness to both ice and fairy, it seems unlikely. Similarly, steel is weak to both fire and ground, and since we would have to have a ground-type to counter Jolteon (assuming no more types are invented) then the best option for a Sylveon counter will actually be Poison. That does leave Leafeon more vulnerable, but it’s just not possible to balance all ten types perfectly.
Once ground and poison-type Eeveelutions make their debut, we’ll only be missing fighting, flying, rock, bug, ghost, steel, and dragon. As much as I’d love to see a Spookeon, it just wouldn’t add any type adv𝕴antages we don’t already have. Ten Eeveelutions wဣould be perfectly rounded and a perfect place to stop.
There’s no telling if or when new Eeveelutions will finally make their appe♏arance of course, but hopefully Pokemon Master Journeyಞ will offer us some more clues as the series continues.
