For years, PlayStation owners have asked for the option to change their online ID. Many players have either outgrown their original names or simply wish for somet𓃲hing to reflect where they are now in life. Thankfully, that option has arrived, and there are several ways you can access the feature.

Changing your online ID is a great way to express yourself a🐈nd represent who you are online while playing with friends. Luckily the first time you change your name, it's free. We'll show you how to take advantage of this feature for whenever you feel it's time for a change.

How To Change Your Online ID

The fastest way to change your online ID for PSN is to log onto the Sony Entertainment Network website and go to Account Management. Select the Profile option on the sidebar, under the PlayStation Network category. There, you'll see your current online ID, name, profile picture, avatar, and more.

Select Edit next to your online ID, and you'll get a pop up that comes with a ꦐfew wa𝐆rnings before you proceed.

The first change is free, courtesy of Sony, but any💯 subsequent changes will be charged.

Additionally, some games will experience difficulties after changing your online ID꧙. Sony hﷺas released a with known issues.

Enter your new online ID and select Check Availability. If it's available, select Continue and it's all yours! You can then choose to display your old online ID next to your new one. This will help your friendsꦰ recognize you after the name change, a♒nd it can help other friends find you.

Your old username can be displayed next to your new ID forꦫ 30 da🎉ys.

Confirm the purchase of the new ID (whether it's your first time or not). Afterward, you'll be signed out of all devices as a safety precaution.

PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita games don't support the feature to change your online ID.

You also cannot change the online ID for child ac🍸counts.

How To Change Your Online ID On Your PlayStation 4

On your PlayStation 4 console, go to Settings, then Account Management. From there, select Account Information, then Profile. Select Online ID and enter your desired name. If it's available, select Continue to confirm your choice.

You can choose to have your old name displayed next to your new one for 30 days. Confirm your preferences to proceed with the name change. You'll be signed out of all devices afterward.

How To Change Your Online ID On Your PlayStation 5

On your PlayStation 5 console, you can change your name by going to Settings and then selecting Users and Accounts. From there, go to Accounts, then Profile. Select your Online ID and enter the new name you'd like.

If it's marked as available, select Continue and determine whether to display your old name next to it for 30 days. This is recommended if you want your friends to recognize you. Select Order and Pay to confirm your purchase and chan🐲ge your online ID.

You'll be siꦿgned out of all devices for security purposes.

How To Change Your Online ID From The PlayStation App

On the PlayStation app, go to the Play menu (the cont💛roller icon) and go to your profile by selecting your profile picture. Select the option to edit your profile.

You may be prompted to enter your password first.

Select the option to Edit your online ID, then enter a new name and check it's availability🧸. If it's available, continue to the next steps. Complete the purchase🐻 and sign back in to your account to view your new username.

If you experience any issues with your new online ID, you can revert back to your old name for free – which will fix most i♓ssues caused by the change.
