With well over one thousand games in its library, it should come as a shock to no one that there were many great games for the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation that flopped. New titles came out far too frequently for gamers to keep up, and the consequence☂ of🅠 this was that many incredible games slipped through the cracks and became labeled as failures.

Now, these games populate an 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:ever-growing ♛lis🉐t of “hidden gems” for the PSX. The real shame is that many of these “ꦏflops” deserve an HD remake for modern consoles, but, due to poor sales figures when they were initially released, this will probably never happen—insert frowny-face🔜 emoji here.

10 Al🌜ien Resurrection

Alien Resurrection PSX

This game flopping was very predictable and very unfortunate. This movie licensed game was released three years after the movie on which it is based. Not a good start. Two additional factors that resulted in Alien Resurrection flopping was that the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation 2 was relea🔯sed six months prior. Additionally, the game was released right before t🎀he holiday season.

It’s a little surprising this game flopped, though, because it is a blast to play. I🎃t’🦋s also given credit by many for the first use of the twin-stick control method used by virtually every modern first and third-person shooter.

9 🥂 ꩲ Blaster Master: Blasting Again

Blaster Master: Blasting Again PSX

The original168澳洲幸运5开奖网: Blaster Master for the NES is now considered one of the best games for that conso🐼le. It may have been difficult while providing no means to save your progress, but it wa🍸s a fun and memorable game.

So, it’s a bit surprising that the 3D version released for the PSX did not sell well. Many gamers consider the NES original to be a better game, but Blasting Again is thoroughly entertaining. This game sold less than 150,000 copies in North America, and less than 250,000 worldwide. As with Alien Resurrection, Blasting Again was relea꧟sed for the PSX wellღ after the PS2 had launched.

8 Star Wars: M꧑asters O𓆉f Teräs Käsi

Star Wars Masters of Teras Kasi PSX

Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, a new 3D fighting game was released about every fifteen minutes. They were everywhere, as every development studio tried to capitalize on the popularity of Virtua Fighter and Tekken.

Most of these were awful, with only about one out of every ten were worth playing. Star Wars: Masters Of Teräs Käsi is not one of these. This game flopped so bad that nobody has attempted a Star Wars based fighting game since. This game only sold about 380,000 copies in North America. This seems like a lot, but it is extremely low for a Star Wars game.

7 ꦍ South Park

South Park PSX

Some games flop because of a poorly chosen release date–like Alien Resurrection–and some games flop because they were over-hyped and under-delivered. South Park for the PSX is one of the latter.

This game was a poorly conceived first-person shooter set in the town of South Park. This was South Park’s chance to cross over into the video game market. This should have been a big dea𒆙l. So, what happ♋ened? Acclaim happened! Thanks to Acclaim and their lack of any quality control, what should have been a major hit was a swing and a miss.

6 ꦗ Blood Omen: Le🍬gacy Of Kain

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain PSX

Legacy of Kain is another PSX game that is now fondly remembered despite underselling when on store shelves. This was an action/adventure game with a top-down perspective. It’s kind of like the original Legend of Zelda, but with much better graphics. Also, instead of an elf boy, the player controls 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a vampire on a quest for vengeance.

This game had everything. It was challenging but not overly difficult. It had great graphics, sound, control, and music, and, most importantly it was fun. Despite only selling about 250,000 copies, this game launched a franchise. The sequels, which used the title Soul Reaver, had much higher sales.

5 ꦯ B♒ushido Blade

Bushido Blade PSX

Bushido Blade was a revolutionary fighting game from Square Soft. This ga♔me didn’t have Super Hyper-X Ultra Combos—heck, it didn’t even have life-bars. This was a realistic depiction of weapon-based melee combat. Hit the opponent in the arm, now that arm is unable to move. Hit the opponent in the leg, and they will imp about the battle arena for the rest of the match.

However, that might be why this game flopped; it wasn’t flashy enough. It’s certainly not as flashy as the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat games. Many gamers felt Bushido Blade should h🥀ave been on the PlayStation Classic mini console.

4 🥀 The Misadventures Of Tron Bonne

Misadventures of Tron Bone PSX

Set within the Mega Man universe, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne is a unique hidde🌃n gem of a game that sold phenomenally poorly. In this game, players take✅ control of the sky pirate Tron Bonne as she tries to raise 1,000,000 zenny—the game's currency—to free the head of the family.

The game consists of four mini-games where players try to “earn” zenny. One would think that with only four mini-games they would get repetitive. This doesn’t happen though; it helps that more mini-games are added in the game’s second chapter. The Misadventures of Tron Bonne only sold about 30,000 copies in North America.

3 Castlevania Chronicleജs ♕

Castlevania Chronicles PSX

This one should have been a huge hit, but, in the end, it only sold around 70,000 copies in North America. This is a port of the 2D Castlevania game released for the Sharp X68000 computer, which was quite impressive for the day.

The result is that this version of Castlevania is a little different than the NES version. Still, it looks incredible, it had great controls, the sound and music were both good, and it has the Castlevania name clearly shown on the cover/case. ♏This game s🧸hould have at least sold a few hundred thousand copies just from its name.

2 🙈 Jumping Flash! ও

Jumping Flash! Playstation screenshot of gameplay

Jumping Flash! was basically to the PSX what Pilot Wings was to the SNES. It was a tech demo disguised as a game. Unfortunately for Sony, Jumping Flash! didn’t sell nearly as well Pilots Wings even though it's arguably a better game.

In Jumping Flash!, the player controls a robo-rabbit across a 3D landscape as it tries to stop the evil Baron Aloha. This game received great rᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚeviews and was the first true 3D platformer, but it only sold a measly 50,000 copies in North America. Please, Sony, give us an HD remake of Jumping Flash! that is VR compatible.

1 Saiyuki: Journey West 🦩

Saiyuki: Journey West PSX

Ask someone that owned a PSX back in the day if they had Final Fantasy Tactics and, statistically, there is a very good chance the answer will be yes. Ask them if they had Saiyuki: Journey West and, statistically, th🅺ey're likely to have never heard of ♏the game.

Saiyuki: Journey West plays 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:much like Final Fantasy Tactics, has just as compelling a story, better animations, and a more vibrant color palette. What it didn’t have was the Final Fantasy branding to ensure millions of copies would be sold. Instead, it sold about 30,000 copies. Saiyuki: Journey West is⛎ a stand-out hidden gem for the PSX, a console with no shortage of 👍hidden gems.
