There are a lot of people patiently waiting for their 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Playdates, the crank-operated tiny handheld that went on pre-order over the summer. It took🉐 just 20 minutes for 20,000 people to claim Playdates, but it looks like it'll take a lot longer for those tiny handhelds to start shipping. An update emailed to Playdate pre-orders noted that an issue with the early production run has caused a significant delay as Panic had to source an entirely new battery.

"As our first 5,000 finished Playdate units arrived at our warehouse in California for 2021, we began to test a few of them," in the email. "We quickly became concerned that some of them weren’t giving us the battery life we expected. Playdate’s bat𝐆tery is designed to last a very long time, and always be ready for you, even if not used for a while. But that was not the case: in fact, we found a number of units with batteries so drained, Playdate wouldn’t power on at all — and couldn’t be charged."

Panic halted production entirely to source a replacement battery and sent back those first 5,000 Playdates for repairs. The odd thing here is that Panic uses the exact same battery as the early development Playdate builds and those handhelds𒉰 are still going strong. Panic is investigating what h💛appened, but it might be some time before they figure out exactly what went wrong.

In the meantime, those who ordered the first Playdates will see their shipments delayed from late 2021 to early 2022. Folks who pre-ordered after the first 50,000 Playdates were already sold won't get their handhelds until 2023 at the earliest.

And that's only if everything goes according to the new plan. Panic noted that the global chip shortage also required them to resource the Playdate's CPU. The good news is that they managed to find a replacement chip that should work just as well, but that's another catastrophe that was a very near miss.

The good news here is that Panic was able to continue testing on the products they've managed to produce and now the only delivery of games "works great and feels great every time." You just won’t find out how great until next year.
