Look, I understand. There are far too many great games this year. I’m right there with you. I still haven’t finished 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Starfield, I’ve barely scratched the surface trying different classes in Diablo 4, and somehow I’ve been sucked back into 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Cyberpunk 2077. As you read this, there will probably be eight or nine more Games𒀰 of the Year hitting Steam. 2023 has been like Christmas, except yꦏou have to keep opening gifts until your hands bleed.
So I very much get it that you probably don’t want more game recommendations. You don’t have the time. Hell, I don’t have the time. You’d love to finish every brilliant story with brilliant gameplay, but you’ve got a limited budget and only so much time in the day. Well, too bad, because I’m going to need more of you to play 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WarioWare: Move It!
I don’t care if you’re busy. I don’t care if you’re tired. In fact, you better get yourself un-tired because WarioWare: Move It! is about - and you won’t expect this - moving it. If you’re a fan of that song about liking to move it, move it, you’ll be right at home here. Despite coming out roughly three centuries 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:after the Nintendo Wii, this version of the ga♑me might be the best time I’ve ever had with motion controls. Not ‘enjoyed’ them or ‘liked’ them. It’s like the team took eve🌌rything that worked well in WarioWare: Smooth Moves and made it better, more reliable, and funnier. Which is wild, because Smooth Moves is amazing.
Like Smooth Moves, there are about a dozen different ‘forms’ in the game. These have you hold the two Joy-Con in different ways - at your sides, in front of you, on the sides of your mouth, etc. Nearly every form is weird as hell and they’re introduced with some of the funniest writing in a Nintendo game this side of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Paper Mario. The mysterious island nation theme leans directly into the corniness, consistently mentioning an odd character called The Voice that just seems like a weird God with a messy lif💞e.
Here's some of the goofy forms in WarioWare: Move It!
And man, this game hits the ground running. After a brief cartoon intro, you’re basically right into the game. No character creator you need to min max. No three hour tutorial you need to follow to understand anything. No narrative twists to set you up for the rest of the journey. It’s just WarioWare. You play a quic🧔k game, it ends, another quick game pops up, you end that one, too. You know how this works. But it’s firing on all cylinders, which is a phrase I think I understand. It’s cars, right?
What’s most impressive is how the game encourages you to think. WarioWare has almost always been about reacting fast and trying to discern what t♔he hell they’re asking you to do. But - as with Smooth Moves - figuring out what you’re supposed to do with that form is one of the most satisfying short-form experiences I’ve had in a game. For example, there’s a form called Ba-KAW in which you hold one Joy-Con to your nose and one to your butt. This is a real thing. It’s actuallyꦯ called that. One of the mini games involves being a chicken running from Link in Legend of Zelda. Once I figured out I had to swivel my entire dumbass body around, I couldn’t stop laughing.
The thing is, like every WarioWare, Move It! is itself about games. It’s about how we play them and how we intuit what we’re supposed to do in them. I get that it’s cheesy when talking about a video game character whose main interests seem to be money, garlic, and farts. The game isn’t that serious, thank God. I think we’re all set on serious games. But resting your hands on your thighs and stomping around is weirdly fulfilling; literally three seconds earlier you had no idea what you were going 🐽to do and here you are, popping balloons with your butt.
I can’t make you buy Wari🅰oWare: Move It!, and I get dropping $50 on a game that takes about three or four hours to beat isn’t a dazzling proposition to a lot of people. But maybe buck up ꦡand try to enjoy something for once in your life. Or put it on your holiday list. I dunno. I just need you all to play this game so we can get more of them faster.
