I had come to terms with Ace Attorney Investigations 2 never launching outside of Japan. It arrived on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nintendo DS over a decade ago, and was already a niche spin-off in a series that was only pop🔯ular with a specific commun🥃ity of fans. But ever since, through new games or animated shows, live-action films and creative spin-offs, Phoenix Wright has become much more beloved.

But now, the stranded sequel is coming to all modern platforms as one of the two titles from the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ace Attorney Investigations Co🉐llection. Capcom has taken these DS classics and put the work in to update tꦓhe visuals, music, and gameplay mechanics, and treat them as the precious parts of gaming history they are. Not to mention that more people than ever will soon be able to access them. I last played the original Investigations over a decade ago, so I’m pretty keen to see how much I remember, or whether it will be like experiencing both of these gems for the first time all over again.

Ace Attorney Is Unusually Perfect For Video Games

Being a lawyer is probably pretty boring in actuality. You spend most of 🌼your time goi🌜ng over paperwork and interacting with clients as you progress through the most banal of cases. Or you quickly come to realize that being the defender or prosecutor for morbid crimes is much less fun than television and film make it out to be.

So you’d expect it to be an ill fit for video games too, but like Japanese developers have done with ✅many professions, Ace Attorney turns the rote work of legal representation into something magical.

Courtroom battles are turned i✱nto dramatic confrontations filled with memorable characters and eccentric personalities, where you might be accusing a literal crown of murder while a judge sits idly by and allows all of this nonsense to unfold. You’ve also got prosecutors and defenders who are more than just blank slates reading out legal doctrine, but individuals all with their own purpose and motivation.

I&💜rsquo;ll never forget characters like Miles Edgeworth and Klavier Gavin, nor the fact they are perfect queer love interests for their protagonists. I have been relishing in this brainrot for most of my life, but now, we are drawing ever closer to the beautiful reality of having every single Phoenix Wright game on modern platforms.

Capcom Loves Its Gay Lawyers, And So Do I

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection - Kay Faraday In The Character Screen

Before, it was like pulling teeth, and recommending a friend or family member jump into the series always came with the caveat of either needing to emulate some of them or dig out a handheld console you probably didn’t own and track down increasingly rare physical copies. Now, I can point to PlayS♔tation, Xbox, Switch, or PC and you can pick up a trio of collections that each house several fantastic games, packaged in a historical context that allows you to appreciate how this series came to be, and why it means so much to so many people.

Then you’ve got the Ace Attorney Investigations✤ Collection, which takes the series to a place none of us could have expected. Porting all the Phoenix Wright and Apollo Justice games is cool, but two DS spin-offs that change the gameplay formula and follow a completely new cast of characters? That’s a different story, and speaks to how much reverence Capcom holds for the franchise, which I once believed was doomed to obscurity. I should have probably seen it coming 𝓡after they brought back Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, which I implore everyone I know to play because it’s incredible. To this day, there is nothing else like it.

If you’ve not played Ace Attorney before, I’d pick up one of the current collections on the cheap and get stuck in. Chances are you’ll have a hard time catching up before the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection arrive🌠s in September, but at least it will be there waiting. For a long time that wasn’t the case, and I’m so glad the future seems so bright for our bright-eyed anime lawyer with a heart of gold.
