Palworld is a survival game with curious mechanics involving Pals, elemental monsters that can help you face the most dangerous enemies this game has to offer, and immensely helpful workers that will help you while you build your own base. However, during the first hours of the game, you don't have many options.

Palworld is more than just 'Pokemon with guns' - there are some deep and✤ complex mechanics at work here.
Right after taking your first few steps in Palworld, you must try and catch a solid team of Pals that can help you during combat and, ideally, able enough to work in your base while you're out having an adventure. Here we have the best Pal options for you to catch during your early-game hours.
Palworld is curr🌱ently in Early Access, and as such, the content it’s subject to change. We will update our articles as needed.
7 Lamball
Cute And Fluffy
- Type: Neutral
The cute Lamball is one of the first Pals you will find in a while, and although it's not the strongest one, its roundness and overall adorability make it a cute partner to have at your side during the first hours. That being said, its weakness in battle doesn't translate into its labor abilities.
Even though it's not as good in combat as other Pals, its usefulness at your base makes up for its lack of combative strength. Lamball is a great Farmer and Transporter for you to employ, and it will prove immensely useful during the first hours, as you rush to build a sturdy base to resist raids.
6 Foxparks
A Small Flamethrower
- Type: Fire
One of the first things you will need to find in the game is a source of heat, and thus, fire. Fortunately, you will find the solution to that problem in the form of Foxsparks, 💫a fiery little Pal that you will find roaming around the Grassy Behemoth Hills.
The main utility for Foxparks, besides probably being the first Fire Pal you will encounter, is that it can be used as a flamethrower in combat, once you build its Harness in a Pal Gear Wo🍸rkbench. On your base, it will be in charge of keeping all your torches lit, and powering the Smelter, should you ever need it.
5 Celaray
A Smooth Glider
- Type: Water
There are many ways you can interact with your Pals both in and out of combat, and the Water-type Celarayജ comes as a helpful way to descend from high vantage points thanks to its Zephyr Glider ability. If you want to add one to your collection, you can find several chilling at the beach near the Fort Ruins.
If you employ one for your base, they will take care of transporting resources to any storage box you have around t🅺o safely secure them, and will also water your crops while other Pals dedicate them💟selves to planting and harvesting.
4 Melpaca
Your First Mount
- Type: Neutral
Exploring is a key aspect of any survival game, and Palworld is no exception. Once you decide on a place to build your settlement,🍒 you will need to explore your surroundings, and if you want to cover as much ground as possible, a Pal you can mount will help a lot.
That's where Melpaca comes in, as it's one of the first Pals that you can obtain in the Grass Behemoth Hills, and you can unlock its ability to be rideable once you unlock it through the Pal Gear Workbench. On top of that, it will also provide you with Wool if you even put it in a ranch, which will always come in handy if you want to craft new armor.
3 Caprity
An Endless Source Of Berries
- Type: Grass
Caprity doesn't excel in combat as other Pals on this list, but it will certainly help to have one in your party if you ever fight against weaker elements. If you ever want to catch one, you have to do nothing but go to the area to the east of the Rayne Syndicate Tower, where a few of them can be found.
However, it's on your base where you'll witness its true potential, and once you build a Ranch, you must assign Caprity to it, where it will make Red Berries spawn occasionally. While this doesn't sound as enticing once you're more experienced, having a somewhat reliable source of food is a luxury you can't ignore in the early game.
2 Teafant
Have A Healing Cup Of Tea
- Type: Water
The cute Water-type Teafant is a small Pal that you can find as soon as you get to the Grassy Behemoth Hills area, near the beach. These little elephants seem somewhat weak, but it's not because of their offensive capabilities that you'll want to befriend one.
More importantly, Teafant can prove to be a valuable asset during combat since its ability, called Soothing Shower, can heal your character in combat. Since this is something that you don't always have access to (and even less in the middle of a fight), it makes Teafant immensely useful.
1 Eikthyrdeer 🌳
- Type: Neutral
Now, once the early hours of the game come to a close, Eikthyrdeer it's one of the more powerful Pals you can catch and will be probably one of your most used Pals in combat in the beginning. Its aggressiveness in combat makes it the perfect partner against your first enemies, something that can only be improved by investing Pal Souls into it.
Accompanying its fighting capabilities comes the ability to use it as a ride, which comes in handy since it's capable of doing a double jump, helping you to reach higher places. Last, if you ever decide to send it home to work on your base, you will also find out that it has a superb proclivity for Lumbering, which will be very useful to stack on wood while you go out on your journey.
