There hasn't been that big of a pushback for the pricing of , because most people will probably play it vi𒆙a . However, those who aren't subscribed to the service will have to shell out for Obsidian's space-faring RPG. Director Brandon Adler had ൲a few opinions on the price of the game.

"We're a game developer. We love to make games. We don't set the prices for our games," said Adler in a conversation with . "Like, personally, as a game developer, I wish everybody could play my game, because that's what I want out of this whole thing. But for the reasons and so like, why the $79.99 price point, you'd have to honestly talk to the Xbox folk💎s." However, he avoided talking about his "own personal feelings" regarding the price.

It's true that developers don't really decide the prices of their games, it's the publishers. Howeve𝓰r, it does seem that Adler is a bit miffed about the high price of the game, as it could possibly lead to fewer purchases among those that don't subscribe to Game Pass.

Outer Worlds 2 will be Obsidian's second RPG of the year, after Avowed. The developer has now covered both the main genres of RPGs, and will be hoping that the space-based game will perform better than the fantasy title. The devs will be hoping that Outer Worlds 2 manages to fix the mi🅺stake of the firꦦst title, which was pretty good but wasn't the Obsidian RPG people were hoping to get. With the game coming out on October 29, 2025, we won't have to wait too long to find out.
